Braindfades and missing set shots cost us again.
« on: July 28, 2012, 10:52:52 PM »
Goalkicking is a basic skill and once again we've had more scoring shots yet lost. No excuses missing 4 set shots in a row in that second quarter :scream. When you have the momentum you have to put it on the scoreboard.

As for the numerous brainfades - whether it's a lack of maturity or just plain dumbness, it's all these that hurt us in these close games. Not killing the ball and squeezing the game down. We have it in a forward line and don't have a wall a kick behind the play or at least an extra loose man to stop it clearing. Cambo as runner was running around trying to coach the side in the last minute because they were all panicking :-\; Not standing defensive side of stoppages and not manning up on Murphy who killed us; Then there's not getting the ball out of bounds (Yarran again dancing along the boundary line which leads to that last goal  :banghead ); Panic kicks in defence that go out on the full or dangerously go back into the corridor straight to the opposition costing us goals; Having no one on the goal-line so the ball clears the 1-on-1 for a goal to them; Kick-ins or switch-kicks that miss open targets that either stop us clearing out of defence or worse causing a turnover and costing us goals; Straightforward marks dropped; fumbling and running over the ball .... The little things that all add up. Just so frustrating!  :scream

Plenty of work on over the preseason before we become a good side and genuine finals contender.

Can only pray for a mass clean out.

We need 1 more big one.

Thats the 1 positive to come out of a season that could easily have gone the other way. The deficiencies have popped up week after week after, you'd have to be a complete arseclown not to give the list a good cleanout after watching this season unfold

One of the problems towards the end of the game seems to be our obsession watching opposition players. Why do we continually have to worry about them, why can't they worry about us. Constantly we seem to play a completely negative game, even the last goal when it cleared Post, he was playing the man, didnt even watch the ball, it was clear from the time it was kicked that it was always going to go over the top yet his mindset was completely negative. Throughout the game he was punching when he could have easily marked the ball, are these actions due to a negative coaching style by Hardwick or simply lack of football brain by the player.
