Get Caddy

Our first rounder (pick 9 or thereabouts) for Caddy. Throw in McGuano to sweeten the deal.

Get it done.

Why? He has been injured and in a string draft I would think our pick is just about right

McGuane also just to help us get rid of a spud

We should go after him but this is RFC and I doubt we will

IIRC Essendon were only prepared to offer pick 19 and given that high pick, Gold Coast wanted a decent player as well. that's where the deal fell through last year.

I reckon our first rounder should be enough.

This is why I doubt because essendon are after him.
I also think pick 9 in a bumper draft could be just as good but who know? I just want the club to flex their muscle

Just because McGuane is crap and we don't want him doesn't automatically mean someone else will just take him as a trade bumper. The way I see it is Essendon have to choose between Danniher and Caddy and they've already committed to their F/S. Melbourne will probably use their early picks on Viney and/or in the draft since they traded themselves out of the first round last year. That leaves us and the Dogs with the most to offer in terms of Victorian clubs with an early first rounder. If we did trade out out first round pick for Caddy, we could always try to trade our way back in using the Port compo or our second rounder + a player (though I doubt many will be up for trading their first round after the past two compromised drafts), similar to how we traded out of a round last year for Maric then traded back in. I'd trade our first round + anyone expendable for Caddy in a heart beat. He would be able to play his game at Richmond unimpeded by tags since opposition will be accounting for Cotchin and Deledio already. And at least he is already proven and still very young. There is no risk of stuffing up drafting a dud 18 year old or running one into the ground for 1-2 seasons.

Carlton could always enter the Caddy fray if they finish near us and want to trade on one of their midfielders or rucknmen (now that they signed Warnock they can control him) to help Smith or replace Fraser.

Give them Jackson or Edwards.  Hardwick rates them.  Maybe other coaches do as well.

Agree, he doesn't really back his good games up does he. Real shame, thought he was coming good.

Our first round pick and McGuane will get Caddy IMO.

GC lack Key Defenders with Bock getting older, McGuane would have currency up there. Would like us to play McGuane and maybe play him on 2nd and 3rd forwards and do a good job and boost his currency up. Maybe Post would be a better option for them.

Can't see GC turning an offer like this down especially with the 'go home factor' for Caddy which will linger his whole time at GC.
Go Tigers!

Is Caddy even that good? excuse the ignorance, only seen him play abt 5-6 times this season but havent been impressed once, seems to make some big clangers in each game, big as in jackson/edwards unforced error type clangers
