Richmond and Adelaide have turned their attentions to securing the services of Darren Burgess, a fitness guru who pays meticulous attention to his players' sleeping and eating habits. Burgess is currently head of fitness and conditioning with English Premier League soccer club Liverpool.
Richmond's general manager of football, Craig Cameron, is in London for discussions with Burgess and other fitness experts after Matthew Hornsby quit the Tigers after 11 years.
The Crows are also searching for a fitness boss after Stephen Schwerdt announced last week he was defecting to Gold Coast.
Burgess is a former fitness boss of Port Adelaide and the Socceroos, having been with the Australian soccer team at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. In his biography on the Liverpool website, Burgess says: ''We need to monitor everything from their sleep to their eating habits.
''Each session we know exactly how far they have run, walked, jogged, sprinted and turned, so we keep a pretty close eye on them and this comes under my role.''
