Tigers to announce $2 million+ profit for 2012 (Age)
« on: August 26, 2012, 01:10:07 AM »
The Tigers are set to announce a profit of more than $2 million, the biggest in club history, and president Gary March has said more money will be spent in the football department.

Be nice to clarify if this excludes FTF revenue, annoys me when this is included as it masks the true operating performance of the club.

We only need $350,000 to achieve the FTF target. Can we scrap the cairns game please? 50,000 at the G with a 15 goal win will earn that cash and a finals spot probably

hmm good point, there was ~1.5 raised this year wasnt there?...would be interested to hear that clarification...bare in mind we have got 53000 members though, that would be some revenue injection :shh

Are you gonna give Benny Gale a cheque for $500,000 and will you also cough up the money for the home game if it draws less than 30,000 people at the G and we have to pay the MCC the bill for not enough attendance at the home game.

In the 3aw interview, when asked if the low attendance at the essendon game would have affected our budget, March replied that we are very conservative in predicting crowds for our budgets, so i highly doubt they would budget for 50k against gold coast at the G.

Theres a good chance the league would put the game at docklands anyway, and all the sooks would stay away

Ramps we would pull more than 30k at the G, id say 40k easy. we got nearly 45k against freo on a wet cold day

Agree but last year we made a $2.7 or whatever profit it was but the club made it very clear that of that figure they only made around 60k profit from operations, would expect that the club will break down the number again.

And I have said this many times the club must include the FTF monies in its books as revenue received. They are legally required to do so.

Everyone would but facts are we have a contract and unless another club wants to take the contract over (like the dees did with Darwin) the club has no choice but to honour the contract

Club has made it clear 2013 is the final year. Though I read somewhere that GC would be happy playing a game up there each year so I have sinking feeling we will going to cairns beyond 2013 as the away team   ;D

I get the disclosure WP but surely it would just be good practise to communicate the FTF component in the article. Not hard and media manager just doing his job to get it mentioned. Otherwise Richmond, stfu and leave that information out altogether until final result is available in its entirety. Just lumping up their tyres when it's not necessarily warranted

My gut feel is the $2mil excludes the FTF monies because at this time last year when the spoke about profit they only spoke about the operating profit

But we shall see

Who gives a stuff, we should be able to win GC no matter where we play. If this club is fair dinkum we will destroy them next year up there . . . hopefully the AFL is kind enough to let us play them at the G also  :clapping :pray  :banghead :banghead
