Emma Quayle saying 10 clubs out of the 18 have said "no" to drafting Dayle Garlett. She didn't have him in her top 25 list in the Age because of his off-field issues she's been told about which she said she wouldn't elaborate on. Given we have publicly said "good character" is an important criteria now with our recruiting, I'm guessing we are one of those 10 clubs that have said no.

Aaron Edwards says "Hello!"
But Claw said he's done nothing wrong.  ;D

Apparently Collingwood are now another club that have cooled on the idea of selecting Dayle Garlett in the draft. Saints and Swans are two of the clubs still interested.

Is this just another West Coast/Darling trick?

emma quayle tweeted that 10 clubs had told her a definate NO to the idea of Garlett...she would not name the 10 clubs...

He must have done something for at least 10 of them to be turned off to not even consider him...on talent alone he should be top 15 - 20 one would have thought

but talent alone, does not an AFL player make

Other people mentioned that wayne to Emma Quayle on twitter but she replied she didn't believe that was the case. There's a pic doing the rounds with him enjoying a ciggie. He of course was kicked out of the AIS so that wouldn't have gone down well with AFL recruiters in an era where they all pretty much rate character as important as was mentioned in the papers today. Many clubs seems reluctant now to recruit kids where time is going to be wasted being a nanny for them for little reward while being a distraction for the rest of the playing group.

Kevin Sheehan, the AFL national talent manager, said this year's draft was blessed with one of the deepest pools of talent for several years.

"Its depth is fantastic," Sheehan said.

"We've tested 220 players from all over the country and 150 to 180 of them you could entertain as good enough to be drafted or rookie listed, so some good young footballers are going to miss out at that bottom end.

"We are rapt with what we've got up front with the top 30 or 40 kids who are certain to be drafted.

"Some years it falls away after the top 20 and it gets a bit thin but we are quite bullish on the depth in this draft.

"There's some terrific talent out there.

Nothing really to do with us, but more just something for those doing the phantom draft and looking at late picks. My workmate who plays for Sandringham reckons Cockie to Saints, Cook to Collingwood, and is pretty sure Sikora will get picked up somewhere. Seems to be pretty sure of this because he was going to go play for Frankston for a more cemented spot in the firsts but decided to stay due to some being drafted and leaving spots.

Does anyone know who has been invited to the draft??

Isn't it only the top 10 that go?

I've seen Toumpas and Wines on the news, has anyone seen others?

SEN will be broadcasting the draft live.

The Club has confirmed we will be using just 4 picks.
