Ratten sacked [confirmed]
« on: August 29, 2012, 01:12:36 PM »
SEN saying Ratten is meeting the Carlton board right now. Harford said there's word that Ratten has been told he won't be coaching Carlton beyond this year. It's being alleged that it got a bit heated in there and Ratten has refused to coach the side in this last round. The Blues' Board is trying to get him to change his mind and coach this weekend.

A reminder it's SEN so take from that what you will.

Update: Ratten officially sacked. Just announced on the Herald-Sun site.

SEN now saying Carlton have come out and said they do have a couple of directors meeting at the club today but it has nothing to do with Ratten and denied previous reports in the media that a decision on Ratten has been made.

As I said it's SEN.

I heard twice, whilst sitting in traffic, after someone came up and asked me about Matt Dea, that Ratts has said FU and walked before being sacked.

Will he coach this weekend as a send off game? or has he walked out after being sacked.

BRETT Ratten’s coaching career at Carlton is finished. His official termination will be announced at 9.30am Thursday at a press conference at Visy Park headed by president Stephen Kernahan, Ratten and club chief executive Greg Swann.

Insisting that Ratten would coach against St Kilda on Sunday, Kernahan is understood to have scheduled tomorrow’s announcement after talks with Ratten this afternoon.

Kernahan told The Age that the club was sticking to a timeline it is understood to have put in place over recent days, determined Ratten would at least see out the season. The former club captain and coach of more than five years has one year remaining on his contract.

His payout is expected to cost the club at least $500,000. Mick Malthouse looks certain to take over next season.

Kernahan’s announcment came after several hours of intense speculation including claims that Ratten had already been sacked and would not coach against the Saints.
