Triple M just reported that apparently he had a fight with the missus or something and that he wanted to come home.  :-\

what, did shazza from broady ring up and tell 'em that?
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

It's pretty noisy at work in between the crappy little pink radio with a broken speaker, the compressors, overhead cranes and the oven with the dodgy bearing so I only came in half way through. They mentioned something about PAFC are aware of a tear (sounded like tear) between John and his girlfriend moments (or something) before he was scene on the CCTV footage. They said he was upset and wanted to come home. Then they went to a lady who was either a representative or an actual member of the LVPD who said they were looking at CCTV footage, but there may be no actual footage of the final moment.

That's what I could ascertain anyway. I'm not sure where they got their info, but the blokes on MMM during the day here are pretty good and treated the news yesterday with respect an to the letter of the law and didn't give into any of the speculation. They probably said at the start of the news but I missed it.

Distressed AFL footballer John McCarthy told his girlfriend he wanted to return home just hours before falling to his death at a Las Vegas hotel.

McCarthy told his girlfriend he was heading to the airport after becoming separated from his Port Adelaide teammates on an end-of-season trip to the US.

Quote
About two hours before his death, McCarthy telephoned his girlfriend Dani Smarrelli in Adelaide, sounding confused and saying he wanted to return home, Smarrelli has told Port officials.

She said she was unsuccessful in trying to contact the other Port players after McCarthy's call.

Cheers al. I was starting to get paranoid I stuffed it up lol.

But maybe they said 'teary' as in upset, rather than a tear as in argument or something. I may have misheard.  :cheers

Heard that this morning too, Daniel. So may just be misadventure after all. Poor bloke  :-[

But I guess the next question now is, what was he doing in that closed off part and why couldn't he get out the same way he came in?

Maybe he went through a fire door and it closed on him?

CCTV reveals AFL footballer John McCarthy aimed for palm tree in roof jump:

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/cctv-reveals-afl-footballer-john-mccarthy-aimed-for-palm-tree-in-roof-jump-as-deeply-shocked-port-adelaide-players-arrive-home-after-teammates-tragic-death-in-las-vegas/story-e6frf7jo-1226470914423

The reason why he was disorientated and confused is still unanswered. That's what they are blaming for him entering through a side door into the closed off part and why he tried to aim for the Palm tree from the roof. Was he disorientated due to personal/health problems or could what he had been drinking earlier been spiked? Still too many unknowns.

However the accident happened, it's just a tragic loss of a young life.

Read that autopsy has been done, but the toxicity results will take 8-12 weeks
