Cold remedies
« on: May 28, 2004, 03:52:29 PM »
Guess who's got a cold  :P. Not a bad one, more annoying than anything else.

Anyone have any weird and wonderful remedies they swear by for getting rid of a cold?

I have always found that a nice Port, Sherry or Tokay before bedtime is very helpful ;D ;D

Can't help you too much MT.  Other than to suggest the good 'ol lemon and honey drinks, get lots of rest and stay warm.

Look at it this way, at least this advice is free, whereas a Doctor would have charged you an arm and a leg for something you already knew. ;D

Actually, I have a remedy that is a cure for any kind of ailment - A Tiger victory. ;)

I hope we win for your sake. ;) and that you get well soon MT.

They reckon that the old wives tale about chicken soup actually does work.

I used to find that a drop or 2 of eucalyptus oil on a hanky or tissue helps relieve a stuffy nose.

chew on a raw garlic clove.
Once in the morning and once in the evening.

Also gargle with some betodine.
5 drops to a listerine cap full of water.

Hubby reckons I've had the same cough for 4 years now.  No I don't smoke either.  Just when the weather changes and gets cooler I get this stupid cough.  Used to get bronchitis as a kid heaps.
