David Koch new Port Adelaide President
« on: October 01, 2012, 04:43:18 PM »
Abit out of left field.

Quote
TELEVISION personality David Koch is to be Port Adelaide's new president.
The Sydney-based financial expert will be revealed as Brett Duncanson's successor at Alberton today when the Power will adopt five new board members - Koch in Sydney, two based in Melbourne including television producer Cos Cardone and one from Adelaide with strong ties to the banking industry.

Former state treasurer Kevin Foley, who is strongly supported by AFL boss Andrew Demetriou, is not expected not be part of the first new refit of the 10-person Power board. Based in Adelaide will be leading corporate lawyer Jamie Restas and former Port Adelaide Magpies player and leading accountant Ross Haslam.

Koch's appointment has been endorsed by the SA Football Commission, the current owners of the Power licence.

A long-standing Port fan, Koch is to be presented at Alberton tomorrow. His placement in Sydney will be challenging considering the pressing demands at the debt-ridden AFL club.

Kochi said, we are all 10% poorer now  :lol
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Not sure if Port Adelaide is a real football club, or just trolling.

Heard Koch on MMM yesterday arvo saying he doesn't have to live in Adelaide to be a board member. They are looking to get someone who lives in Melbourne and so on to give their brand more exposure. In other words not living in Adelaide shouldn't make a difference to running the club. Ok Kochie if you know best. :lol :rollin :lol

Well perhaps Port should make a play for Kurt tippett seeing his big issue is he doesn't want to live in Adel anymore.

Under Kochie's logic Kurt can live in Melb or Sydney and play in Adel  ;D

Wait a sec WP Eddie was living in Sydney when he was CEO at Channel 9 and running the show at the Volvo, Lexus, Westpac whatever centre it was. ;D

I'm sure that's the logic Kochie is using. Both teams wear black and white don't they. The similarites are endless.

Both TV personalities.
Both have their own shows.
Both teams wear black and white. Wait one has teal too.
One dictates AFL agenda one is lucky to be called an AFL club. :thumbsup

What a professional operation they are running over there in Adelaide. :rollin

RODNEY Eade's management has been left frustrated by Port Adelaide's epic search for a new coach that ended for Eade with a text message last night.

After offering the vacancy to Gold Coast assistant Ken Hinkley, Power chief executive Keith Thomas sent a text to Phill Mullen saying: "Decided to go another direction. Thanks for facilitating the process.''

Mullen told adelaidenow he had expected a telephone call to mark the end to Eade's part in the 62-day search for Matthew Primus' successor.

"I thought we'd get a phone call. It was a text,'' he said. "That is their perogative. But it is disappointing.''

Mullen negotiated Eade's move from the Western Bulldogs to be the strategy coach at the Magpies in less than a week last year. By comparison, Port's process is in its ninth week.

Port began the search in August declaring it wanted an experienced coach with Eade being the best-qualified of the candidates.

"It has been a drawn out process - it has seemed to go on forever - and that is quite amazing,'' he said. "I had a lot of contact with them (Port) and did not pass all of it on to Rodney, so he would not have been as frustrated as I was.

"I would have been very happy to take a phone call from them at the end. Obviously, they are busy so a text was probably convenient.''

It's cost cutting at Port.

$1.17 a minute for the phone call and if Eade asked questions extending the call to 3 minutes well then we could be talking about a $3.51 phone call . 29 cents for the sms and with the savings you have Angus Monfries new 4 year contract. :lol :rollin :lol

Smart move by Port. :help
