Hopefully he can get a couple years at it without injury so we can see if he is up to it.

Yeah that's the point. The kid did well to play the games he did after what was an extensive injury. I really liked his efforts in the last game against Port.....smacking into each contest really hard in the last quarter particularly.

“We’re very pleased to see Dave re-committing to the Club, as he is highly regarded, not only for his football ability, but also his excellent character,” said Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Craig Cameron.

“After a bad run with injury, he’s now fit and really looking forward to a full pre-season.

“We expect him to come on in leaps and bounds throughout 2013.”

Good job!!
DIMMA - You will be held ACCOUNTABLE...

“We are really excited about what we have brought in. We have got great depth of players that can take us where we need to go. We are just putting some cream on the top at the moment,” he said.

Great, the club is even treating Rick like his biggest hit

"Never gonna give you up,
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry,
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you"
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

If he gets injured this year significantly I think we should pull the plug on him and say he is injury prone.  For me he is on the fringe, make or break year.

dont get the impatience of people with the big guys.
we are shy 3 or 4 talls on the list as it is yet people want to cut a player who has in the main tracked in the right direction while suffering severe injury lets give him to age 23.
its like post i reckon when he came into the side at the end of the yr he went okay he finally showed a reasonable form and there was a sense of belonging.yep he had a poor one last game.posts problems are nothing but the lack of opportunity imo.

the two talls on the list who should be in the gun are mcguane and derickx everyone else should be safe. the state of the tall list or lack of talls tells me even these two should be retained for good list balance.

the list is categorically 3 or 4  talls shy of what is needed.

if astbury and griffiths are indeed defenders  and mcguane is a stop gap we are definately 3 tall forwards shy. think about it it leaves riewoldt elton and vickery who is to play in a pocket as a ruck forward.

if they are forwards we are at least two tall defenders shy of what would be good list balance and management.it leaves just rance, chaplin, grimes and post.

now that angus has finally been moved on and dericks looking very ordinary at age 25 we are at least two ruckmen shy.

the question that needs asking,  what is the best balance of numbers  foe each area of the ground.  its pretty simple and straight forward 12 talls, 6 tall defenders. 6 tall forwards and  3 or 4 ruckmen.
it leaves space for 28 mids/flankers. the formula allows for  all over the ground 2 players for each role.

take it further if we are to mirror what we want to do on game say with a stand alone team in the vfl. to actually  mirror  you will need 3 tall forwards, 3 tall defenders and one or two ruckmen in the vfl side. it leaves 14 positions for mids flankers in the vfl side exactly what we need for the afl side.

imo we are at least 3 talls shy of what we need for long term development.
atm we also lack in a big way genuine mids on the list to cater to both game day and development.

i apologise for being long winded and preaching but we do need to understand the lists needs and what makes for good list balance.

patience is a virtue, particlarly when it comes to big men.
Read an article the the other day where choco said that when he was at essendon there were times when both Lloyd and Lucas were nearly dropped from the reserves.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."
