Tiger Tom set to stayBy Paul Daffey
Thu 25 Oct, 2012RICHMOND ruckman Tom Derickx appears likely to stay at Tigerland, with talks continuing this week about a renewed contract.
The delisting of Andrew Browne and the departure of Angus Graham to Adelaide in a deal during Gillette AFL Trade Period early this week have put Derickx in the box seat to become the main back-up for leading big men Ivan Maric and Tyrone Vickery.
Derickx, 24, has played two games since being taken at No.63 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft.
His first game was during the victory over Melbourne in round 15, and he also played in the loss to the Gold Coast the following week.
As a late developer, Derickx is likely to receive another year to establish himself at senior level.
Key position players Luke McGuane and Jayden Post are also out of contract.
The Tigers' interest in North Melbourne forward Aaron Edwards, who completed a fitness test at Punt Road on Wednesday, suggests a trade is a possibility.
Richmond reiterated that it was unwilling to comment on trade or contract issues.
