Nick Vlastuin had a DE of 66% under physical pressure - No.1 of any player who averaged at least 15 touches at Richmond. #composure

Vlastuin an instant hit

In terms of raw numbers, Nick Vlastuin’s debut season of AFL football at Richmond was pretty impressive – 18 games, including the elimination final against Carlton, an average of 16.3 disposals and 4.8 marks per match, and a sixth-placed finish in the competition’s prestigious Rising Star award.

But, as Richmond’s Recruiting Manager Francis Jackson pointed out at the 2013 Jack Dyer Medal night, when he presented the Club’s Cosgrove-Jenkins award to Vlastuin, for being the Club’s best first-year player, the stats didn’t tell the whole tale of the influence the talented Tiger teenager exerted throughout his initial league season.

I don't think this has been discussed enough. A first year player with this sort of composure playing in a highly pressured role of HBF pushing into the midfield - that's incredible. Usually players come into the system fumbling and turning the ball over nervously. Flossy is going to be our Voss  :thumbsup

Just continues our recruiting philosophy of not taking highlight reel players but rather getting solid performers with good footskills, attitude and character.  :cheers

Vlastuin better prepared in 2014

A full year in the AFL system has been a significant benefit for rising Richmond star Nick Vlastuin.

The talented teenager, who made such an impact in his 2013 debut year of league football, feels so much better prepared – both on and off the field – for his second season at the game’s highest level.

Great game by Vlastuin tonite. One of the few tigers to stay calm and composed when our leaders got shut down and everyone else was panicking. Playing well when nobody else on your team is = Uphill skiier

Comfortably the best of the last three first rounders and actually looks a steal for an pick outside the top 10.....also good to he didn't just kick the ball off the ground once last night....let's hope he keeps it up and we don't ruin him as well.
