Andy set for life at Tigerland . . .

Brave Richmond backman, Andrew Kellaway, becomes a Tiger for life when he lines up against the Brisbane Lions in Saturday night’s match at the Gabba.

Kellaway will play his 150th league game, thereby qualifying for life membership of the Tigers.

It’s a fine achievement by a player who didn’t establish himself as a senior regular at Richmond until 2000.

He actually started his career at Tigerland on the Club’s supplementary list, and was a member of the reserves premiership side in 1997 under Jeff Gieschen. At the end of that year, he was chosen by Richmond at pick No. 71 in the National Draft, and he made his senior league debut with the Tigers the following season.

After an unspectacular start to his AFL career, Kellaway’s career really took off in 2000. He played every game that season, took the most number of marks at the Club (161), and capped off his efforts by winning the prestigious Jack Dyer Medal, and also earning All-Australian selection.

With his great courage, discipline, determination and durability, Andrew Kellaway has become an integral part of the Richmond line-up since then.

Last season, Kellaway’s impressive run of successive league games came to an end at 118 when he suffered a broken collarbone in the Round 10 clash with West Coast. Although he missed only four games, he struggled to regain form during the rest of the season.

This year, however, Kellaway has been right back to his best across the Tigers’ backline, and he’s clearly relishing the team’s new game plan under Terry Wallace’s coaching.

AK looked gawn at the end of last year but in the last month he's probably played the best footy of his career. Even better than when he won AA in 2000 IMO. Another Wallace success story at the moment.

I too had him a ceratin delisting/retirement at the end of 2005.

To his credit he has really lifted his game and is now playing near the best footy of his career.

Remarkable turn around.

Congrats Chub  :thumbsup

I remember seeing AK playing for Coburg late last year.  His confidence looked shot and he didn’t have a great day.  Hard to believe it was the same player who’d won a B&F and All Australian selection.

Good to see him playing like he can, with some confidence in himself and his teammates. :thumbsup

And well done on 150 games.  Great effort.

Well done Chubba.

I've said it before and I'll say it again it is amazing what a bit of confidence and self belief can do. And when confidence is being shown by the coach well....................what more can you say :thumbsup

My god....Chubba has reached 150 AFL games.....who would beleive it?

The man who falls over at every chance he gets has taken giant steps this season. I wonder for how long he will last like this...

Congrats Chubba.

Tiger Andrew Kellaway will play his 150th game this weekend against the Lions in Brisbane. He spoke to the Sport 927 breakfast team this morning about his milestone game and the fantastic start to the season the club has had.
