See who sizzled for your club in pre-NAB Cup trial matches

With the NAB Cup just four sleeps away, SuperFooty has gone behind the scenes to dig out all the gold from your club’s low-key trial matches.

RICHMOND

NOT a great showing put in when Richmond played the All-Stars in Alice Springs, but Tiger fans, keep your memberships away from all microwaves.

It was closer to a Coburg side than Damien Hardwick’s best 18 on the paddock, while there were still some positives to extract from the 50-point belting.

Matthew McDonough looks like a shrewd addition. The medium forward showed his smarts and accuracy with a nice goal, while No. 9 pick Nick Vlastuin showed his trademark ferocious attack which is likely to earn him an advanced debut.

Luke McGuane and Aaron Edwards started in the forward 50, and with all due respect, the Tigers will be a far scarier outfit when Jack Riewoldt and Ty Vickery take their places.

Todd Elton showed promising signs as a tall forward in tough conditions, while Dusty Martin lifted after the first break, albeit his execution surprisingly let him down.

Dimma at ease in Alice
By richmondfc.com.au
Monday, February 11, 2013

Hardwick - “At various stages, we put a few blokes behind the ball and then tried the other way.  So, it was always a game that we were going to try certain situations.

“We had a relatively young squad out there and we were keen to get them in tune with what we’re trying to do going forward.

“I would have liked to have been closer on the scoreboard, no doubt about that.  We came to win like we always do.  But there were some good signs, especially in the second half when we got our game up and going a bit more . . .

“Nick Vlastuin in the last quarter was very good.  Kamdyn McIntosh showed that he’s capable pf playing centre half-back.  Todd Elton took a couple of really strong marks . . . he’s just got to get a bit better with his goalkicking.  He’s terrifinc in the air, ‘Toddy’.  He’s going to take a little bit of time, but we think he’s got potential moving forward.

Good comments Dimma, positive about the newer players, lets hope they can keep it up. Very good to hear that "Kamdyn McIntosh showed that he’s capable ff playing centre half-back"
DIMMA - You will be held ACCOUNTABLE...

“We are really excited about what we have brought in. We have got great depth of players that can take us where we need to go. We are just putting some cream on the top at the moment,” he said.

To bad he wasn't kicking well at all. Benefit of the doubt especially for a first game but would hope it improves

Most players kick poohouse first game of the year. Just the nature of having someone putting proper pressure on you compared to training. Even Dusty butchered it. By late NAB/season proper players will hit more targets.*

*Don't hold out hope Jacko will improve though  :shh

I agree, especially in a game where no ones moving for you making the kick easier. I just have hopes of him being a good kick.

You can almost make a whole side out of those that missed the All-Stars game.

Q. Would this team ...

B:  Grimes    Rance     Chaplin
HB: Houli    Griffiths  Batchelor
C:  Lonergan  Foley      Helbig
HF: King     Vickery     Arnot
F:  Derickx  Riewoldt  Petterd
R:  Maric    Deledio   Cotchin
Int: McBean

comfortably beat the following team that lost badly to the All-stars?

B:  Morris          Astbury      Dea
HB: Jackson      Darrou       Ellis
C:  Grigg           Martin      Newman
HF: S.Edwards A.Edwards  Knights
F:  Nahas         McGuane     Elton
R: Stephenson   Tuck     Conca
Int: White, O'Hanlon, Vlastuin, McIntosh, McDonough, Williams, Verrier

Me thinks the answer is yes.
