5:09pm AEST Sunday, August 18, 2013RICHMOND forward Jack Riewoldt has been cleared of any structural damage to his right knee after undergoing scans following the Tigers' loss to Carlton on Saturday.
The star goalkicker landed awkwardly in a marking contest during the fourth quarter against the Blues, hyperextending his knee.
He returned to finish the match but appeared in discomfort, repeatedly reaching for his right knee.
The 24-year-old will need to complete training during the week before being cleared for selection against Greater Western Sydney next Sunday.
Defender Ricky Petterd will also need to be assessed during the week, the Tigers declared on their website, as he pushes to overcome hamstring soreness.
Former skipper Chris Newman, who has not played a final in his 232-game career, will need to pass a fitness test this week to face the Giants after missing the Carlton clash with an ankle injury.
Forward Matt White (hamstring soreness) was a late withdrawal against the Blues and will also face a fitness test later this week.
Forwards Shane Edwards and Jake King are available for selection after overcoming hamstring injuries.
Captain Trent Cotchin suffered a bruised shin against Carlton but is expected to be available against the Giants.
