Kangaroos clash a 'mini-final', says Frawley

In the wake of a second disappointing away loss in succession, Richmond coach Danny Frawley and tall defender Ray Hall both declared next week’s clash with the Kangaroos as a virtual final for the Tigers.

After three successive wins, the Tigers have lost momentum with successive interstate defeats at the hands of Port Adelaide and West Coast.

Perched precariously on four wins and six losses but still close to the top eight, they return to Melbourne to face the Kangaroos at Telstra Dome on Saturday night and Frawley said Richmond’s season was on the line.

“We are still not out of it yet, we’ve got a huge game next week,” he said. “It is going to be one that I think all our measures and where we want to get to as a group are going to come to the front.

“It is going to be exciting to be playing in a pressure cooker situation.

“It is probably a mini-final for us,” he said.

Hall, one of a handful of Richmond players to win his position against the Eagles by keeping Andrew McDougall goalless, agreed with Frawley.

“Next week is a big game for us,” he said. “Our season is pretty much on the line and we have to come out pretty hard in the first quarter and go on with it.”

Hall said the Tigers were disappointed they had squandered the momentum gained with three straight wins.

“To be where we were and to get back into a winning position…in two games, we’ve let it slip away a bit and now we have to fight back again,” he said.

“But we are still a really good chance of making the finals and that is what we have to aim for.”

Spot on Ox...it's just like last week, and numerous times before when he was quoted as saying "we'll have to be playing at our absolute best to have a chance in this one". Talk about defeatist attitudes!

Do you think Spud is one who believes in the reverse pyschology rule?

When they are lining up for goal: "of course he'll kick it"
When we are lining up for goal: "of course he'll miss it"

 *Fingers crossed ;)*

Nah...who am I kidding? Psychology is four syllables. Spud would struggle with more than three...

...che-rry-ripe  ;D
For the love of God son, don't stick that up your ass!

Sadly he may be proven right but not the way Danny was thinking but rather for all the wrong reasons - that as a footy team we are simply not up to stratch and it will take a number of years to fix ourselves up :'(. Just had to see Saints and Lions obliterate their opposition today to see that.

Why do we always open our traps before a Kangaroos game. That's three years in a row now. De ja vu!

When will we learn to keep our gobs shut up in the lead up to games >:(.
