in most cases the umps dont have a feel for game, and there in lies a big part of the problem....besides the always tinkering with the rules.

Yep Razor and co prove it week after week by constantly being out of position at top pages and guessing what to pay

Just watched the after match press conference on the AFL channel and I've got to say that Ross Lyon was excellent. Very honest in his assessment of the game and individuals.
Even mentioned he has near no influence during game day but expects his players to inplement the methods hes put in place.
It was different in a way that most coaches all sound the same to me with same old scripted answers week in week out.
I'm not sure he's always this way and I've never really paid much attention to his pressers before but I certainly will in the future.

Never have denied Ross Lyon is an intelligent and calculating person but part of his persona is at times to also come across as being as exciting as a bathroom rug.

Comes across as smug and arrogant to me. Like he's having a private little joke that he wont let the rest of us in on. I'd love for us to take him down a peg or two, but it probably wont happen in my lifetime.

Ross Lyon is an outstanding coach. Dont like the way his sides play footy but you can see wherever he goes his players implement his football philosophy and follow his instructions. Seems to be a top bloke as well.

And we were the first side he coached as an assistant to Walls.

Ross might be a top bloke but the style of football his teams play is just awful..I would imagine that style will get you to finals but wont win you the big one

I guess the good thing about Ross's style of football is that every opposition is always in with the chance, even the east jerusalem seconds

He may have been in the past I have never noticed to be honest.
But after this game he certainly wasn't smug or arrogant at all.
It was just a real honest assessment of the game, his team and his players.
Even the controversial goal he answered honestly talked about how he was on the end of one in the granny when the tomahawk kicked a goal that hit the post.
Thought he was excellent.

It's Roos type philospohy and he was one kick away from going back to back. Conversely he was one kick away from going back to back runners up.

As for Ross being a long term deputy to Roos he was unlucky in 09 with the Tomahawk post incident and a couple of his lesser types in McQualter and Schneider missing sitters and in 2010 if Milne was more alert he may have broken the ice. But that may also say more about the culture at the club over 100+ years than the style of footy Ross gets his teams to adopt. In most cases the best defensive team will always beat the best attacking team and that is the philosophy he uses. Look at Geelong in the 90's West Coast and Carlton took them to the sword in 3 GF's.

I actually like Ross even though his style of footy is drab. He calls it as he sees it and doesn't give the same scripted choreographed answers that some blokes seem to churn out week after week.

Respected Lyon as a player and a coach but just want to beat a side coached by him. Hate Freo. I want us to have revenge

Charges Laid:
Nathan Fyfe, Fremantle, has been charged with a level two kicking offence (250 demerit points, two-match sanction) for kicking Daniel Jackson, Richmond, during the second quarter of the Round Five match between Fremantle and Richmond, played at Patersons Stadium on Friday April 26, 2013.

In summary, he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Richmond Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a level two offence, drawing 250 demerit points and a two-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 187.50 points and a one-match sanction.

Brad Helbig, Richmond, has been charged with a first offence for misconduct ($1200 sanction) for misconduct in that he stood on the hand of Danyle Pearce, Fremantle, during the third quarter of the Round Five match between Richmond and Fremantle, played at Patersons Stadium on Friday April 26, 2013.

In summary, he can accept a $900 sanction with an early plea.

A first offence for misconduct is a $1200 sanction. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to a $900 sanction.

Brad Helbig has been cited by the MRP for standing on Daniel Pearce's hand and can accept a $900 fine  ::)

And Fyfe from Freo cops a week for kicking Jacko.

Got to say kicking is a scumbag act
========

Fyfe was cited for kicking Richmond's Daniel Jackson during the second quarter of Freo's one-point win over the Tigers on Friday night.

His initial sanction was two matches, but he can have the ban reduced to one if he pleads guilty.

Richmond's Brad Helbig was cited for misconduct after standing on the hand of Freo's Danyle Pearce in the first quarter of the same game.

Helbig can accept a $900 fine.
