Learn from the BombreS
« on: April 25, 2013, 04:59:24 PM »
Right now, the Pies are a side waiting to be beaten by a serious football side. Tiger players could learn something about how to hunt a side for 100 minutes.
Today's game showed the Bombres hunger, last Saturday showed a soft underbelly on a middle of the road side
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Pies are now getting smashed - obvious from the opening 20 minutes, why the difference in the Tigers?

Don't tell me, Rome wasn't built in a day?

I already resigned to the fact that it's just same old average Richmond. No expectations, no more disappointment  :shh

Sick of watching teams quickly rebuild after a dip. Where as no matter the coach, personnel, anything else, we're stuck in the bottom or only average at best.

100% correct.

They've beaten 2 teams regarded as top 4.
We can learn something from them "no doubt".
Soft footy won't win you finals.

I agree we were poo. Highlights how far we have to go as a side to be a top 4 side.

Some just highlight one facet and miss the entire picture.

Essendon were due on Anzac Day and they played Cloke the way we should have played him.

Live and learn. We have 18 more games.

Bombers are also a so called mid table side tucker - grow up

Really, the way some on here in the past have labelled them and their culture HRT and how we should emulate their "winning culture" you would think they were better than a so called mid table side.

Then again not long ago the world applauded and regarded Lance Armstrong as the World's Greatest Athlete also.

And this time last season they were flying - 8 and 1 after 9 rounds and equal top with a 10 goal win over the Eagles included.  Fast forward to Round 23 - 11th, 3 more wins in 14 games and a drop of 40%.  We have things to learn but Bummer Toughness is not one of them.

The main difference when watching the Bombers today is their disposal efficiency under pressure. We continually let the Pies off the hook last week with turnovers under pressure.  The other difference is goal efficiency once inside 50, we need to improve markedly in both areas before we will trouble top 4 sides.

We've kicked inaccurately all year bar in the second half against the Bulldogs when the heat of the game has been extinguished.

Agree our goalkicking needs real improvement.

history suggests no, last 2 years theyve been on fire in the first 10 rounds then capitulated spectacularly. But then again, they are more mature now so who knows?
