Our best footy can beat Geelong however we've only seen our best footy in small patches so far this year - 2nd qtr vs Carl, most of the Bulldogs game (who were non-competitive) and 1st qtr against Freo. On our current from, there'll be one or more quarters where our workrate and intensity on and off the ball will be virtually non-existent  :help and that'll allow Geelong to cut us open with their new found leg speed and spread  :-\. If there was ever a time we can and need to put together a full four-quarter effort to win and make a statement to our critics in the media, it is this Saturday night!

This game is a huge test.

Our history against the cats isn't good but this game will show us plenty about our team.

Are we ready to take the next step? We are finally home which is a huge plus and as disappointing as the loss was last week we did show a lot of fighting spirit and almost won the game.

I think this game could be our breakout game as the hawks game was last year.

Now that winter is here Tucky must play.
I'd like to see foley as a sub think his clearance ability and burst speed could be valuable late in the game.

I think it's there indigenous players we've goto watch as the 3 of them are having a great year thus far & we don't have a great track record in stopping any good indigenous players.

I'm not confident but the Roos nearly beat them and we are better than them aren't we?
If we keep up that pressure and intensity we showed last week if we're prepared to work hard for a full four quarters,... Well you never know.

Geelong have hardly been impressive this year. In all games they have played this season they have at stages looked pedestrian but their professionalism experience and capabilities to win tight ball coupled with that winning mentality that has been nurtured and shown week after week year after year has come to the fore enough to get them over the line.
I personally think we are a real fighting chance this week if we can keep the intensity up for four quarters and match them man for man and scrap for every last morsel available.
For me the fear of Geelong and their aura is what has helped them at stages this year and if somehow we can overcome the fact that we may fear them and be starstruck by them they may be just have a dogfight against us.
They know how to play the G after all Flags are won there but I just feel Jack with the scrutiny may be itching to get out there and a few of our boys may just be ready to have big games full of the terms I used earlier and give us a real chance of toppling them. Have not beaten them at the G since 1999 so it has been a long time. Saturday may be our night.
I reckon Tuck and Foley as sub may just be what we need if we are prepared to risk it just to add some pace and get the pendulum swinging our way if Tucky or any other mid is starting to fatigue in the third term. :thumbsup
The onus is on us do we want an honourable 10 or 20 point loss where a loss of professionalism and lapse in concentration for 20 mins or so is where this game is won or lost or do we want to win this game albeit by any margin. I know what O want let's hope the 22 selected for us tonight think that way too. Much better feeling. :thumbsup

Geelong have hardly been impressive this year.

You make some interesting points, and I agree that we are a chance to beat the cats if we play well. However, Geelong were very impressive, at least to me, in their wins over Hawthorn and away in Sydney. If Geelong have been unimpressive this year then we have been diabolical.

Their wins were full of spirit. If only we had that spirit.
Falling behind by 30 points to Hawthorn and 40 to North is hardly impressive. Coming back and winning though is but it's not that well oiled Geelong we have come to respect.
If anything they were most impressive against Sydney.

As for us we have played in fits and starts as Geelong have but it's their professionalism will to win and leadership that has got them to 5-0 against a range of opponents lower middle and top 4. We have played teams from all 3 categories also and are sitting 3-2 due to where we are currently in our evolvement. We've sampled the highs with our big game win over Carlton and the lows in the last few weeks. It's up to the boys to which of the highs or lows will be sampled on Saturday night. :thumbsup

Just as note I feel that we can shock Geelong if not go on and win on Sat night. Both Nought and Carlton at times as middle range sides pushed Geelong all the way and I feel falling in that same middle category can do the same as mentally Geelong whilst having that mental strength in their premiership stars may not have it in their new players who may have not eerie need the ultimate success and despite how good these Smedts Christensens Taylor Hunts and co are they can be outplayed and made to look quiet. Geelong are not hunting like they used to. Maybe its our cue to go hunting them. Let's hope so. :thumbsup

Just don't think we have the big guns to stop them, could be our biggest spanking for the year. I love Jack but gee he had better watch it or Enright will pull his pants down and Jack won't know what has hit him.

For us to win this game we must play 4 quarters of hard, disciplined, accountable and highly skilled football....as the Cats do!!!!

Well whoever Enright plays on they had better be up to it or he will run off them all day and create play...
