Mentally we are shot. Too hard and we buckle.
We need a bloke like Martin to just get in the face of the opposition, rile them, defile them, revile them and just be an enforcer like Selwood at Geelong, Vossy at Brissy once or Solomon at Essendon a bloke who would not take skata from no one and who would make blokes walk 3 foot taller. Or Jordan Lewis or Sam Mitchell. Blokes who have reps that are justified.

We are just to weak and prim and proper. Nasty sides win flags teams like us win nothing.

in fairness that was our largest defeat in over a season of football. in that time we have constantly had patches where we have been hurt by the opposition but have regrouped and not capitulated completely.

i thought before the game that we were going to struggle to back up from last week. Physical and mental fatigue are not mutually exclusive by any stretch.

add to that, im sure that the players would find it as demoralising as the supporters to see Mcguane having to take the center bounces  :P

Better sides than us have wilted before the cats and everyone should have seen just what we need to aspire to, and how far off it we actually are.

This weeks game against port will tell us a lot about the character of the team.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

You would hope Al that this weeks game against Port shows us that we still have character and spirit albeit obviously proving we are still way off the top sides but still able to hold our own and remain competitive and successful against the mid tier and lower ranked sides. Thus leaving us in a position of positivity for now with time to augur the right on field changes to get us to the top tier in subsequent seasons.

I've read the same thing for 3 weeks now. I read it after the loss to Collingwood and after the narrow loss to Freo and now again after this loss.
Maybe we might have to wait to see the character of the team when we play Gold Coast in Cairns.
How long must we wait to see something?
I reckon I've seen it already.
Mentality weak, soft and void of leaders who know how to lead.
The club that keeps giving.

Lets hope in the future that we have wins for guys that have given great service as the cats did for Johnson and Enright, The coach was adamant that his players were going to honour those 2 on Saturday.
Don't underestimate this in a playing group, unless its us..lol

I was surprised by reading the herald sun stats that Houli laid the most tackles and performed the most pressure acts. The second highest tackler was Vlas which is awesome for the kid.  The last three weeks have given us a reality check. We are miles off being a top four side especially if we continue to turnover the ball at will. We have alot of areas we need to improve.

you may have read it, but not from me.
the geelong game panned out pretty much as i expected, for reasons already stated. freo game, despite losing was hardly a capitulation or all round pee poor effort. in fact it was a pretty good effort to play soft and still narrowly lose to one of the tightest teams on their home ground.

didnt you spend a lot of effort a year or two back saying we had enough leadership?

We saw it last night, now Mr Tigra will you let it go?  ;D
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”
