Making a Play for Essendons Ruckmen
« on: May 11, 2013, 08:02:31 AM »
I recon we should have a crack at getting one of Bellchambers, Gumbelton or  Ryder in the off season. All of them are so much better than Vickery and play that forward role much better.
They cant all play at the same time too for Bumbers.
What do you guys think?

Bellchambers is the only one I would consider.  Ryder is soft and goes missing a lot, and Gumbleton is too injury prone.  And I think they will be most likely to hang on to Bellchambers out of the 3 of them so we would probably be wasting our time.

Gumby is on a one year contract. Apparently Dogs went hard for him last time but Essendong convinced him to stay. I reckon he's only there until Daniher is ready, hence the year by year contract. No game below his knees, gives a pretty lame chop out in the ruck, but IMO a really solid overhead mark and goal kicker. If his injury concerns are over I wouldn't mind chucking a few breadcrumbs at him and seeing what happens.

I want to see us bring quality AFL players in from now on and not average run of the mill depth players. We are still an 8th to 10th side. Need quality not quantity IMHO.
