Editor creates a headline by taking a small part of quote and what do we get? Angst.

Would love to read the part of the book that gives the entire story rather than a couple of quotes
"Oh yes I am a dreamer, I still see us flying high!"

from the song "Don't Walk Away" by Pat Benatar 1988 (Wide Awake In Dreamland)

His early retirement has already been in an article.

3 years better get himself and his mates on the their bikes toot sweet.

Can we expect his next contract to be his last then?

If he can deliver or be part of winning premiership side within 3 years he can do whatever ever bloody pleases.

I don't really like the quote ''But I'm looking forward to it being over as well"

I'm sorry, but I like my Richmond captains to be, or at least appear to be, more durable than that. I want at least 300 games out of them, 300 proper games that is not 300 Wayne Campbell games, or, at least until their last tendon is hanging off their knees and ankles. It's great to hear that Trent has a balanced life, but I would like to see him become a bit more single minded about fixing his kicking to be honest, he has hardly hit a target all year. He was a better kick back a couple of years ago when he was known as a 'footy nut'. I realise I am being extremely harsh on our young captain here, but I want to see him retire as not just a legend of our club but he has the potential to be one of the all time greats of the game.

I'll believe it when I see it, what player at their peak would turn their back on 6-800k a year for another few years? no-one unless they're already loaded. When he has kids and thinks abt their future, he'll play on till cant

I read the article also. Will reserve judgement until i read the whole lot, not just selected excerpts from a book as it may be taken out of context.
If quoted in context then i find it puzzling for him to say that. I would take a flag in the next three years even Cotch does retire.

Based on recent history I think its safe to say that Cotch will be playing out his days at the RFC until he is a very old man :thumbsup

Yes, so they become the first father / son combo to play in the same [remiership side in VFL / AFL history.  :lol
