In more good news for the Tigers  ;D
============================

Thomas could miss two weeks for headbutt
DateJuly 1, 2013 - 3:24PM

Sports writer for The Age

North Melbourne is set to be without its leading goalkicker, Lindsay Thomas, for the next fortnight after he was offered a two-match suspension for headbutting.

In addition to Thomas the match review panel also offered reprimands to Geelong's Joel Corey and Fremantle's Zac Dawson respectively for minor tripping and striking incidents.

Coleman Medal contender Thomas has been punished by the panel for an incident late in the Kangaroos' match against GWS.

Thomas won a free-kick for high contact and Townsend bumped him. The Kangaroos player responded by grappling with his opponent and leaning forcefully into him, pushing his forehead into Townsend's. The Giants player immediately complained about the incident to the presiding umpire, Sam Hay.

The punishment would ordinarily be cut from two matches to one with a guilty plea. That could not occur for Thomas because the Kangaroos forward was saddled with 88.75 carry-over points for a bump that broke the jaw of Melbourne's Daniel Nicholson late last year.

If Thomas accepts the penalty he would miss the Kangaroos' matches against Richmond and Brisbane. If he elected to challenge the panel decision at the tribunal he would risk also missing the round-17 match against Carlton.

Don't believe will make any changes unless Maric okay then will bring in. Big O was good as was biscuit. Tough call to drop biscuit for vlas.

The Barometer - Round 15
Herald-Sun
July 1, 2013

RICHMOND

ON THE BLOCK: Orren Stephenson is at the mercy of Ivan Maric’s groin soreness despite acquitting himself well against the Saints. Matt Arnot was rock solid on debut and would be stiff to miss.

ON THE CUSP: David Astbury is expected to return while Maric must prove his fitness later in the week. The Tigers blew a three-quarter time lead over reigning VFL premiers Geelong to go down by 20 points. Out-of-favour goal sneak Robin Nahas was among the Tigers best as was Shane Tuck and Ricky Petterd. Nahas boasts a good record (12 goals from six matches) against North and could earn a reprieve, exposing the Kangaroos’ backs for speed.

GILBERT GARDINER’S FORECAST: A top four spot is there if Richmond wants it bad enough. The midfield runs deep. Jack and Tyrone can work in tandem with devastating effect and the back six can hold up under pressure. But the fact remains, Richmond’s yet to knock off a team in its own ‘weight division’. North Melbourne, a team the Tigers have struggled with in recent times, is the prime candidate. Game on!

Loved the game against St Kilda, Dan Jackson continued to be better than he was worse. Loved McEvoys hit against Arnott where McEvoy nearly knocked himself out. Loved Arnotts game as well. Cotch not looking his usual sparkling self, has been off for a few weeks now, is there a niggling knee injury there?
Big O was adequate and better than I thought he would be.
Matty White was great again and very effective.
Now I want to ask all you footy gurus a question about who is our best match up against the player who single handedly beat us last year...Boomer Harvey. We had no one who could stay with him and he is way too dangerous to let him roam free. I was thinking that Matty White should tag him. He has the speed and maybe the skill to negate Harvey. Any legs to this line of thought from OER Brains trust

Morris for me.. Just doesn't get beaten. Imagine lining up on Morris, you would think 'f#%k I'm going to earn every kick and be very sore tomorrow.... And the next day....and the next day.'

I like your idea of White on Boomer as he probably needs a full game anyway and I'd make Newman the sub. I'd love to see newy play forward a lot more too.
I'd rest Maric for the next 2 weeks and give the big O those games then Ivan should be cherry ripe for an assault on the big three.
I wouldn't change anything this week but I'd consider giving King a rest next week to bring in Vlastuin or Tuck.
The most pleasing thing is we don't need to resort to bringing in Nanas.
The club that keeps giving.

I would rather have them worry about Cotch running free, bind up Booker with a shut down player. Morris may well be the go but I think Whites speed would help out there, Plus Kingy resting with Tuck floating in mid field and @ CHF ish as he plays very tall and is a good kick for goal....??
