Stripes, what you say makes sense but riddle me this - how is it that a coach of a team after 18 months can have a system that is so superior that another side who have had a coach for more than double that time are powerless to overcome it?
Given their injury list and our home ground advantage, this system sounds pretty damn good - maybe we should've hunted Ross Lyon ourselves?
It sounds like you think Lyon is a much better coach in which case the culture of failure continues to plague this club dragged down by low ambition and mediocrity!
I refuse to believe it, get the job done today Tigers!

“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

I think the state the respective clubs were in when the coaches took over plays a big part.

Lyon took over a club where he was expected to take the next step.

Hardwick took over a club that that had to be stripped back bare and start again.

Two things stick in mind that highlight how far behind we were when he took over-

An early training report on a forum that mentioned that Hardwick had to stop training every 10 minutes or so and call them in just to get the basics right.

and Jack saying how it was like going from primary school to high school when hardwick took over.

We probably wont get a better opportunity to beat a top side this year, but freo will cover that sort of loss of personel better than we would at this point in time, just as we would cover it better now than last year and last year better than the year before......

If we bring our A game we should win, but it wont happen without a lot of hard work and discipline.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Surely we can close out this game?

With all due respect to Stripes - who is a superstar poster - let the Freo system never be raised as a valid reason to lose to them.
We were too hard, too skilful and simply worried them out of it.

Do you only feed people casserole at your parties. Why you so stingy? Still gotta a way to go yet before Hardwick finishes this job IMHO.

What a great time to pull out a four quarter effort like that against a top 5 side and to shut up those saying we haven't beaten anyone yet  :gotigers.
