Even early on when we were up by a couple of sausages Sydney were just no longer harder at the contest but running better to the contest. Motte numbers at the contest.

If anything I thought our fwds were starved of opportunities due to our mids bar Martin really offering nothing. Deledio was nowhere today I thought Cotch was ineffectual. Add to that Jako made some howlers yet played ok if there can be such a paradox and blokes like Conca, Ellis, Vlaustin who I felt tried had very little support.

I thought Rance and Chappy were manful and just to digress what a monster has Jesse White become. Ty Vickery please take note.

Fundamental errors have always ost us whether Ty dropping a mark or Axel hitting the post from the square or players ( Houli) falling over in a marking contest or even basic skill errors and decisions.
Whilst we are not the side we were until these are eradicated these elite sides will chop us up and the coaching staff need ton address these issues of basic lack of skill and essential decision making.

Whilst I still believe finals is on the horizon and we will make it I firmly believe the club needs to address these issues I have raised to ensure we just are not satisfied in making finals but we are actually working whether it be by list management, delistings, draft, trade etc towards consistency and sustained finals success that lead to premierships.

Oh and please can we drop Shane Edwards I honestly thought he was our worst today. The I'd is woefully out of form atm and he needs a run or two at Coburg to regain it.

oh, one other thing, why sub off of one of our highest possesion winners on the day, and one of our best contested ball players overall, on a day when we get smashed in that area?

On another note, I don't blame Hardwick. Reckon Pettard did better than Astbury would've despite the height difference. Would help if we had a decent 3rd tall that could stay on the park. Also, the players have to work harder

I thought Tuck played poorly, no poise when he had the ball which often played into the hands of the Swans mid field.
Not the only one but final margin wasn't going to be reduced by Tucky staying on the ground.

at least he got the stuffing thing.
all the poise in the world is useless if you cant get the stuffing pill.

Al, what is the point of getting the pill only to hand it straight back?

got smashed in the middle. not just contested possessions/clearances, but got a real lesson in running both ways.abilty to find team mates when under pressure and release that pressure. shows how far away we are from being a real contender coz thats what is needed come finals

And this (highlighted bit) is the single biggest issue as to why we are so far off being a real contender.

Our inability or refusal (I'm not sure which) to run hard over and over again is a massive concern.We have far too many blokes who not only just wont run when they don't have the ball but as much so as when we do have the ball (hello Shaun Grigg).

Watching the Swans yesterday they ran like they were doing 10 x 100m sprints, repeatedly without a break. That's what we need to aspire too

We still have a long long way to go

once again our much maligned players such as white and jackson were amongst our best, despite their mistakes.

considering the amount of contested ball he gets and the pressure the opposition put on, throw it onto the boot is often going to be the only option.
as you say, when your teammates play from behind it doesnt help, nor does lack of numbers at the contest.

It can become a circular argument, whats the less pointless a bloke getting a lot of the pill and coughing it up or a bloke getting it rarely and using it well. at the end of the day they both probably have the same impact, but at least when someone is getting first hands on the ball he is half way there.

Yeahright could be right when he says tuck getting subbed of could be a fitness thing but there was still a number of players who had less impact on the game than tuck who were still allowed the best spectators view at the stadium.
