GWS will give up their Pick 1 to the hawks for Buddy.
Tiger swap pick 11 or the Pies swap pick 10 for Adams.

I think we should get him but the offer that the pies put on the table is fairly steep though particularly given what we are offering Dusty. They would know this and be trying to exploit the situation. I hope we can find a way.  :pray

No they wont, they get buddy for free as hes a free agent

The Pies want to trade Shaw and have targeted young Giants’ hard-nut on-baller Taylor Adams in a potential straight swap.

It is believed Collingwood is Adams preferred new home, but the straight swap relies on Shaw accepting a challenging leadership role with the young Giants under new coach Leon Cameron.

Taylor Adam's manager will be on Trade Week Radio on the AFL website at 1.10pm today.

----------------------------------------------------

From Tiger71 from BF:

"Love the sun, Adams has recommend collingwood as his preferred place. Lot of rubbish.

I have it from a really good authority who is actually considered one of Adams best mates ,ran into him in Bundoora...used to love charcol chicken at university hill. That Adams is all but sold on the Tigers. Adams is annoyed that GWS has basically said FU Buddy is more important in regards to contract negotiations so I would not be surprised if sooner other then later that Adams comes out and officially states Richmond has his preferred club......"

we dont really have an out of contract player that would suit gws.
at the end of the day adams is out of contract if he nominates us their is little difference between pick 10 and 11. its what we can throw in that matters.

the out of contract players we have are
martin obviously. the way things are going martin for adams  plus pick 9 would be good. trouble is they are prepared to wait for the psd and take him there if we dont come to terms.
nahas - has no trade value.
a edwards - just too old for them to trade for.
white -  may possibly have done enough this yr to have value for them. ticks the experience side of it.
mcguane - could give em a chop out for a yr or two while they devolop other talls. imo he has no value at all.
derickx - nope
helbig - im hoping we keep him and he develops into something. they have better credentialled kids.
batchelor - could be worth something he has had some injury issues. will be 22 in feb and has what 40 odd games to his credit.
dea - again the lck of experience nope.
elton - nope  lacks exerience they have better credentialled talls
ohanlon - nope again  see elton.
tuck retired.

we dont have much to offer.  someone like foley would probably please em. if nathan were agreeable how about picks 11  46  + foley for adams and pick 20 and 38.. or similar give or take.

the other one is if adams nominates us offer them martin get pick 9.
use our pick 11 on longer.
we gain
adams, longer   + 9,
 lose martin + 11
still have 9 28 46 and 64.

His manager on trade week radio said that he'll nominate a club by the end of this week and that Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon and Richmond have spoken to him.

I think he'll nominate Collingwood because they have been the most successful in recent times and will do the best trade and $$$

Claw why limit it to out of contract players...

To get quality in, we may have to let someone of value go.

We might have to trade a Griffiths or Astbury or Foley to get an Adams through the door.  Alternatively he goes into the psd and most likely someone before us will pounce for sure ala Port and JMac when we were interested in him and ended up gettong O'Hanlon instead.

beat me to it Tigger.
It doesnt have to be an uncontracted player to trade. All that needs to happen is the player in question agrees.

The only issue with a contracted player is that if the new club offer less than his current contract, then the current club have to pay the difference.

I'd say Collingwood will be in the box seat, trade wise. Heath Shaw seems the likely trade bait. So we've gotta compete with that, which WOULD mean giving away something we might want to keep. Axle seems like choice, but he may not want to leave. I know there's rumors going around saying Adams wants the tigs, but in the end, if collingwood offer the better trade option, I'm sure he'll end up heading there. For mine, seems unlikely.

However I will say this. I believe Richmond have been the best performed club over the off-season with trades etc over the last 3-4 years. If that form continues, well, you never know. Get it DONE tigers!
