Tigers look to balance pay scale

Richmond is no longer a club that can afford to overpay its stars, coach Damien Hardwick says, as it looks to lock away it key players and target opposition talent.

Key forward Jack Riewoldt and midfielder Dustin Martin remain out of contract beyond this season, with both players currently negotiating new deals.

Hardwick said the ongoing negotiations were not a distraction for the Tigers and he remained confident both would re-sign.

I would trade out Riewoldt if hes not prepared to accept a reasonable deal. Either pledge to the Tiges Jackie Boy of do us a favor and eff off.

Hardwick also said he wants both Dusty and Jack to stay and both want to stay.

I agree with what they just said on 360. Hall said not to put all our eggs in one basket, if jack wants more than we're prepared to give then see you later. Robbo said we should give GWS a call if Jack won't budge and ask for pick 1 as Boyd will be a 2-3 year player by the time we're pushing a flag.

Mooney was talking about a few years back when the top paid players were listed and how no one at Geelong (I think he said barring GAJ?) were in it.
