Would like to see Helbig play and play a full game in the middle. I think he will be a good player for us when he gets his body right to play week in week out.

Actually would have thought it would have made more sense to play Helbig last week ahead of McDonough.

Only because Helbig would be one of those players that for finals would in the "next" group, the emergencies behind the first choices if that makes sense

Missed White's pace terribly today. S Edwards has butchered the ball a lot lately. I'm not hurting for him to come back. Newy would be nice though.

Was Whitey injured?

Yes tightness in the upper hamstring

If he is fit White should come straight back in

But the last 2 players we said had hamstring tightness King & S Edwards have missed 3 and 2 weeks

Must be our heavy training finals load  ;D

RICHMOND

ON THE BLOCK: Some injury issues but none are too serious. Jack Riewoldt hyper-extended his knee when he landed awkwardly in a marking contest late in Saturday’s loss to Carlton, but scans have cleared him of any structural damage. Trent Cotchin suffered a bruised shin and Ricky Petterd hurt his hammy in his first game back from a groin injury. First-gamer Matt McDonough struggled to adjust to the pace at the top level, Shane Tuck started as the sub again (but was good when he came on – again), and Dustin Martin played arguably the worst game of his career.

ON THE CUSP: Shane Edwards (hamstring) and Jake King (hamstring) are both ready to go and Matt White should be right after he was a late withdrawal on Saturday with hamstring tightness. Coburg was smashed by Box Hill with few standouts, although Robin Nahas, Aaron Edwards and Sam Lonergan remain in contention for a senior call-up. The worst news from the VFL was a likely season-ending ankle injury to promising big man Liam McBean. But scans cleared the young forward of bone damage, Tigers say he'll be ready for the start of preseason.

AL PATON’S FORECAST: Richmond is not only getting used to the idea of playing in finals again, it is also trying to get the hang of late-season player management. Coach Damien Hardwick indicated the Tigers won’t be taking any risks with players who have slight niggles, so it would be no surprise if Riewoldt, Cotchin, Newman and even White were given a rest against GWS this weekend. Meanwhile, the coaching staff need to figure out what’s happening after quarter-time – in the past two weeks the Tigers have kicked a combined 14.4 in first quarters and 14.21 for the rest of the match. Not something they will get away with in September.

RICHMOND - In the Mix

Jack Riewoldt will have to pass a fitness test on his knee and is in doubt although scans have cleared him of structural damage. Trent Cotchin (bruised shin) is more likely and Ricky Petterd (hamstring) will be monitored throughout the week. Chris Newman (ankle) and Matt White (hamstring) will have tests while Shane Edwards and Jake King are expected to be available. Given the Tigers are playing Greater Western Sydney, there isn't likely to be a push to play anyone under serious duress. Liam McBean won't get a senior debut in his first year after injuring his ankle in the VFL but Robin Nahas put his hand up for a recall with 31 disposals, as did Brad Helbig (27) and Matt Dea (26). - Jennifer Phelan

Wonder how close McBean got to getting a game this year. :(

Helbig in midfield  :thumbsup. But they always seem to send him back when he gets a recall
