What was the best Richmond goal of 2013?
« on: September 11, 2013, 01:29:55 PM »
The RFC website is counting down the top 10 Tiger goals of 2013. What are the thoughts of OERites?

Top 10 goals of season 2013:

1. Brett Deledio – Round 1 v Carlton .................. from wing puts on the after-burners and after 3 bounces bombs one from 55m out.

2. Matt White – Round 5 v Fremantle .................. crumbs off the pack and from an acute angle dobs it to put the Tiges in front late in the last quarter.

3. Dustin Martin – Round 12 v Adelaide ................ Jack keeps the ball alive along the boundary and Dusty gathers it in the pocket and snaps it around the body for a goal.

4. Trent Cotchin – Round 13 v Western Bulldogs .... Poor kick across goal by a Bulldogs defender leads to a 50/50 at ground level in the pocket. Cotch uses his body to gather the ball and as he's pulled down by the back of the jumper he still is able to squeeze it through.

5. Daniel Jackson – Round 13 v Western Bulldogs .... Jacko off-balance and under pressure, throws it on the boot in the pocket and bananas it through.

6. Jake King – Round 17 v Fremantle ..................... Kingy spoils the Freo kick-in in the pack on 50, gathers the ball, then weaves and dodges around four Dockers to nail one on his left.

7. Dustin Martin – Round 18 v Sydney ................... Dusty passes off running off half-back then runs on and receives it back 70m out, runs to the 50 on the boundary and dobs it.

8. Shane Edwards – Round 19 v Hawthorn ............. From the throw-in, Jacko wins the contested ball and dishes out to Edwards running past who bends it through on his left. Dwayne Russell calls it "a work of art".

9. Trent Cotchin – Elimination Final v Carlton .........  Cotch nails a Blues defender in a tackle and after good defensive pressure by the Tiges, he receives it back and bends it through.

10. Ivan Maric – Elimination Final v Carlton ............. Big Ivan shows his agility for a big man, cuts in and snaps it through on his right.

I commend Maric because his goal was the result if individual effort - gut running and determination.

Half the other blokes got a lucky snap off a handball.

King's was great too.

Only one nomination for Jacko. He kicked a couple of beauties this year. Martin's goal against Adelaide was a great goal as was Maric's goal against Carlton. White's goal against WCE was also very good

Thought Martin kicked a better one this year? Can't remember team and round but his in the right forward pocket and bends it through on his right (similar to the sydney one)

Titch's goal was voted 10th best.
