RICHMOND

The enduring image of Richmond's season will be Chris Newman's celebration after the final siren in round 19. In the pouring rain at the MCG, the Tigers had knocked off premiership favourite Hawthorn, giving them 12 wins for the year and all but cementing their first finals appearance since 2001. For Newman, who hadn't played a final in his 231-game career to that point, it was a memorable moment as he clenched his fists and roared in celebration. The Tigers had led by 22 points in the first quarter but didn't kick a goal in the second. They then went on to kick 10 goals to three in the second half to win by 41 points. The win gave the Tigers – and Newman – belief they could knock off the best sides. "It was more relief coming off the game the week before and knowing it was a step closer," Newman said of his celebration. "I like to celebrate my victories when I get the opportunity because I obviously haven't had as many as I would have liked over the journey."

Don't be suprised if we don't make finals, next year they'll be talking about how good it was for us to beat GWS in a crunch game.
What a bunch of stuffin' imposters!   :banghead

Not disputing last Sunday was terrible.

But overall the the season gave us what we all wanted (if we are truly honest) and that was making the 8 and playing in September.

But considering where we were as a club 4 years ago to right now. I'd take right now. We've improved that cannot be disputed  :thumbsup

And if Freo vs Port ends up being the Grand Final then we will have had the biggest Finals crowd as well.

I can honestly say WP that I'd rather anything other than what happened Sunday. It would've been better not to have made the finals. Sunday was the most humiliating day I've experienced as a Richmond member.
You'll probably disagree but maybe losing to the scum & the whole scenario of it   hurts more than any game I've seen. Maybe its because I'm a wog and it adds more weight but there's no doubt in my mind that this was the worst loss that I can remember and we've all seen plenty in 30 years.
Sunday was the icing on the cake to the biggest joke in the AFL.

Best - beating the Hawks again!!!

Worst - letting Carlton* kick 29 goals after halftime in all 3 games this year to our 13!!!!!!!  :banghead

The Chris Newman Image? - Get a grip.

Best moment was the airing of the 1980 Grand Final behind the scenes story on channel 9.

Worst moment- realising how comparatively soft this kids are.

Mr Tigra, if we hadn't made the finals this year, then this forum would have gone into meltdown because the vitriol form people would have been worse than anything dished up since Sunday. It's been clear all through this season that no finals was clearly unacceptable to the masses.

We made finals and yes we lost a game we should have won but after 12 years of not making finals I reckon we've taken the first step. If you can't see past Sundays result to recognise what's been achieved in 2013 then that's your choice.

But for me after getting past the disappointment I've realised that I'd rather be where we are now than where were 2, 3, 4 years ago

And BTW Sundays loss doesn't come close to the insipid, non-competitive, gutless, dishonest performance they dished up to against Carlton back in 2011 in the FTF game when we wre thrashed by 100 odd points. That's still the worse loss I've ever seen

sorry would have to disagree here.

in that game and in that year we were no good so didnt really come as a surprise.

the only game that comes close to being as humiliating is the benny cousins hamstring game.

forget about what you thought in round 1 or what we were like 4 years. I myself looked trim and terrific 4 years ago but that was then this is now

Facts are we lost to the same team for the second time in a month after hearing how we have "learnt from our mistakes" our win/loss record against them was mainly in the past. Give me a spell.

Take maric, rance, ellis, nick v, cotch, king we have no men left in this team next year. Rest are faggots if you want the truth.
maric and cotch go down in 14, we are royally screwed.,

GRIGG, Edwards, Lids, Houli, Jack. are they even men?? There DNA is made of estrogen if you ask me. Jack is not even half the player richo was.

When was the last time we did what carlton did to us in a big game on the big stage. 95 semi?

Is it better than not making it. Im not sure, i doubt it. That was as bad as it gets if you ask me in the last decade.

The only positive and its a slight positive of the year, is that because of that loss we will surely make finals

If thats not incentive to redeem yourselves as a footy club i dont know what is.

WP until we bring ruthelss never give up type of footy into our club we wont be doing much apart from the lower reaches of the 8 and just outside. We are as lethal said a club with no ticker on the big stage.
