Ricky Petterd v Paul Chapman

Seriously i'd prefer Chappy even if he was only fit enough to set up the autograph tables at Family Day

Surely worth more to the side than Ricko?

Might need another goal kicker with the Dustin **** up

I'd rather Chappy tbh even considering his likely complete lack of longevity.

If he did a Ben Cousins and jagged maybe 30 serviceable games over two years I'd be happy. Petterd has no currency IMO. Amazed we picked him up/played him so much.

Petterd.

Il pretend you didn't even put him in the same breath as a 30 yr old chappy.

Chappy by a mile.

Did you hear the one about Paul Roos, Darren Jolly, Paul Chapman, Daniel Cross, Daisy Thomas, Dustin Martin, and an East Melbourne cost of living allowance?

lol we have 4 spcialist sml forwards on our list. ask yourself how much better than all of them is chapman and chappy is a goal kicking mid.
1 veteran  king 30,  2 mature  white 27, nahas 26, 1 junior mcdonough 20yo. in all honesty id be more than happy to see the first 3 either delisted retired or traded out.
ask yourseldf what do we want in a sml forward.also ask yourself how much better than all of them is chapman.

for me  if a polayer is nothing more than a specialst sml forward they need to be 1/ super quick, 2/ regularly and consistently hit the scoreboard, in todays game its a given that they must be able to apply defensive pressure. finally id really like them to be able to become part of midfield rotations.
id rather we drafted quick  sml goal kicking mids who have some size about em if we are to draft smalls  than limited specialist sml forwards.

in the long term only mcdonough is worth persevering with. we have to do better than the other three.
personally id rather we didnt look at sml players with the way the game is going unless they are outstanding.

if we do take em they had damn well better have great pace great polish know where the goals are have good size for their height and be able to go thru the midfield.how many of our smalls tick these boxes. i suppose in a way i just described a resting rover in old speak.

we have 10 sml players on our list and all bar two, ellis, mcdonough  lack in some significant way ie pace footskills smarts limited in their roles etc. imo we only need a maximum of 6 smls if they tick the above criteria. that is 2 mature, 2 development and 2 juniors.

heres a list of the 10 smls we have
king - slow and limited does not kick enough goals.
s edwards - lacks polish pace consistency and footskills.
lonergan - cant kick slow and doesnt kick goals.
foley - has always had poor footskills but has the pace he is now forever injured.
white - has pace but lacks in most other areas yes he tries his guts out.but is that really enough.
nahas - hes always been a dud yet hes played some decent footy at times. theres a lesson in that about others if people want to learn it.
houli - the only specialist small defender we have. lacks pace lacks physicality, only has one foot he stays  for now but again we should be looking for better.

ellis - will be a very good mid ticks most of those boxes.and will improve in all areas
mcdonough - looks classy looks to have an inate goal sense wshould in time tick all boxes.
arnot - big bodied inside player has a bit of work to do to get there not sure about him.

if we only need 6 smls which 6 should we keep. for me ellis, houli, foley, mcdonough, arnot, and white. the other 4 king retire,  nahas delist,  edwards trade,  and lonergan delist.
it makes room for bigger taller mids defenders and forwards to go on the list which quite frankly we are lacking.

why only 6 smls well how many sml forwards do you need how many sml defenders actually play in defense how many sml mids are running around.

I just watched the replay of the elim final trying to find the 1 ineffective disposal petterd had. Loved his 10 score involvements. And goal ...16 possies in a final, nice work if you can get it,  :shh I'm not too interested in turning RFC into a retirement home for old timers looking for a boost to their super fund, ...ordinary idea
