Hoping our 11th flag isn't too far away now
.
Premiership sides create trends. Other clubs not far away may now go hard at trading & free agency to instantly solve holes in their list given the foreign legion Hawthorn had today - Lake, Hale, Gunston, Guerra, Burgoyne, Gibson and to a lesser extent Simpkin (who came in today for Whitecross). They've also down well recruiting ready-made players from state leagues - Mitchell, Bruest, Smith, Stratton and Puopolo.
This my conclusion....Lyons game will get you to the finals and possibly a grand final ,but it aint attacking enough to win you one.
Yep too reliant on nullifying the opposition. Hawthorn getting a good start meant Freo couldn't apply scoreboard pressure, close the game down and play the game on their terms.
For mine, Freo played their GF last week. Too many of their players had downers today after almost a faultless game in the Prelim. Knowing from our own experiences with big games, it's been too much party mode and too much focus on Freo this week. As if they were happy just to have made a GF. Even after losing today, their fans stuck around at the 'G well after the siren when usually the losing supporters leave straight after the siren gutted.
