McGuane remains in limbo

Meanwhile, the Tigers' only other free agent [aside from Matt White], Luke McGuane, hopes to remain at Punt Road.

Defender-turned-forward McGuane is the Tigers' other unrestricted free agent and there is yet to be an announcement on where he will be in 2014.

It is believed McGuane wants to remain a Tiger but is yet to be offered a new deal with both parties content to wait and see what transpires in the next month.

The Tigers have a few players in that category. Aaron Edwards is also out of contract, while back-up ruckman Orren Stephenson was on a one-year rookie contract this season.

Big man Ivan Maric last month said he expected Stephenson to stay for another year.

McGuane played 12 games this year with a spate of VFL games in the middle of the season when Edwards became the preferred third tall forward option.

A leg injury ended his season after he faced Carlton in round 21.

The Gillette Trade and Free Agency Period officially kicks off on Friday.

Edwards is ahead of McGuane, plus I'd prefer to see McBean come into the 1sts next year.

Can't see McGuane staying.
Go Tigers!

Under free agency will we be forced to give up a pick if some other club takes him?

Brisbane may view McGuane as adequate insurance should Staker depart.

I'm hoping that someone like McGuane could be used at Brisbane given what you have mentioned and help to formulate a deal to get Longer to Punt Rd.
