Wouldn't mind being a fly on the wall in the first president's meeting. The 17 ohter male counterparts will let her have her token say on things football , have a little laugh behind their hands , then ask her to go make the coffees

Since when have had a 18 person board  :-\

I think you under-estimate Peggy and her value to the RFC

She was one of the driving forces behind committee that reviewed the operations etc of the clubs footy department during the last year of Wallace.

She chaired that committee IIRC and it's that committe's recommendations that led to (in part) the restructuring of the footy department that included the hiring of Dimma, improvement in funding in development etc.

Oops  ;D

Points still stand though  ;D

Reckon she will leave a couple of the other presidents in her wake. She wont be intimidated by any of them or Andy D  ;D

Can see her saying "Black with one sugar thanks Andrew"  ;D

O’Neal thrilled with strong support

New Richmond president Peggy O’Neal has received overwhelming backing since her appointment to the role yesterday.

“It's been delightful the outpouring of support I've received from the other club presidents, just in the past few hours, as well as from the AFL and our members and supporters,” O'Neal said on 3AW.

“One of the big challenges for me will be returning all the calls and getting through the emails.”

O’Neal, a leading superannuation lawyer, who has been on the Tigers’ board for the past eight years, is the first female president in VFL/AFL history.

But that groundbreaking fact hasn’t been a motivating factor for her.

“With my legal background, I’ve been the only woman in a room with men for a number of years now,” she said on 3AW.

“At Richmond, I’ve found the focus has been on capability. On the board we’re all volunteers and, if you’re willing to help and volunteer, there’s always a job for you at a football club.

Her first order of business should be to haul the CEO in and tell him if he ever writes another preachy article in the paper he is sacked.

Who isn't a fan of the thinking man's orange Tim Fleming?

Excuse my nativity, can anyone post some of her achievements / CV?

I've never heard of her.

:huh you never heard of her well just goes to show how much you know about the Richmond Football Club right there. Do you barrack for Richmond  ;D

Apologies I don't have the time or efforts to start another slagging match with you Monk, so i won't bite.

But honestly never heard of her. Don't see that as a bad thing, not interested in a President that is keen to get into the public eye and all over the TV screen, she's kept a pretty low profile since she's been there. I like that. She wants to be President for the right reasons. Don't think her CV is as impressive as Speed's or O'Shan's (in terms of relevant sporting experience) but the main thing is that the board is unanimous so she gets my vote. I like the fact we are the first club to appoint a female as President, soon it will be common and we can say we were the first. Here's hoping she is the best of the lot.
