Free Agency Compensation
« on: October 04, 2013, 01:40:25 PM »
Now that we know Matty White is gone and most likely McGuane, and if by the looks of it no other players of ours leave under free agency and we dont pick anyone up, what will the compensation pick be?

Correct me if I am wrong, but will we only receive the one pick for losing both players as the compensation rules look at the player history and works out an appropriate pick suitable for compensation. 2nd rounder you think for losing both players?

Would be very very lucky to get a 2nd rounder. Would say a 3rd for the two of them.

We will get compo for both player.
The Afl have a formula based on the players overall performance, games and b&f finishes over the past few years. It's a luck dip really, if the Hawks were only going to receive an end of first round pick for Franklin then we'll most likely get very late picks at best for White and McGuane.

There are more details on how it works from the link below....

Good thread, nice for others to help out as we are not all experts and I use that term very loosely... ::)

The 2 biggest factors they use is most recent form and the type of contract theyve been offered by their suitor
