I wasn't around (this site) when we picked up Maric, was the reaction similar???
From what I understand people were pretty upset then as well. Is it too cliche to say: Lets just wait and see?????
i dont think too many were upset with getting big ivan.

there were a few like me who were not against getting the big man but against  useing a second rounder to do so.
i keep on saying it though the maric hampson situation is completely different. there was a very good case for getting ivan he had played some great footy for adelaide had a great 2009, and backed it up in 2010. always combative always giving a contest always looking after the players around him.
hampson to date has done little if anything  to warrant useing pick 28 to obtain him.

Dan Richardson on the RFC website:

VIDEO: http://www.richmondfc.com.au/video/2013-10-07/richardson-on-hampson

SUMMARY:

* We see Hampson playing ruck/fwd and complimenting Maric and our ruck stocks. Ivan has been great but we feel he needs a hand. Shaun is slightly taller than Ivy. We expect Ivan to do the bulk of the workload and the heavy hitting with Hampson coming over the top with his additional height.

* Ty to be played as a more permanent forward with Ivan and Hampson rotating in that ruck/fwd role.

* Shaun was behind the likes of Kreuzer and Warnock at Carlton so there's more opportunity at Richmond but he also realises the challenge ahead for him. He brings outstanding character traits which is a key component when Blair Hartley analyses players to bring over to Richmond. Shaun is a quality person who will fit well into our group.

* We had our doctor check him out. Bit of a knee (PCL) trouble but nothing major and our doc gave him the all clear. Touchwood everything with turn out okay.

* Ruck/fwd was a key role we wanted to find over the trade period. So that's been ticked off.

* We've been able to re-sign quite a number of our key players. We've kept everyone we've wanted to except probably Matty White who left via free agency.

* There's a lot of innuendo floating around out there so don't believe everything you hear. Like all clubs we're out there working hard to improve our list.

chaplin wasn't a trade and there was plenty of bagging of houli
we got houli in the pre season draft anyway so there should never be any
criticism of that trade.

Reading that mcguane was gone anyway.

Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Jackstar was very vocal about his dislike of the Maric trade. From memory it went something along the lines of "worse than Graham" or something to that effect

Tigers say trading is done after securing Shaun Hampson
Ben Collins
October 8, 2013 12:33 PM

AFTER satisfying its need for another ruckman, Richmond expects to lay low for the rest of the Gillette AFL Trade Period.

On Monday, the Tigers secured former Carlton ruckman Shaun Hampson in exchange for the current pick 28 in next month's NAB AFL Draft.

Richmond football manager Dan Richardson told Gillette Trade Radio on Tuesday that while the club couldn’t rule out being involved in further trade activity, it would likely take a back seat from here on.

"Our strategy has been mainly a bit of stability and retaining key players (and) we've fortunately been able to do that," Richardson said.

"(Our recruiting) team has done a terrific job over the last few years and … had a fairly significant turnover of players the last three, four years, so I don’t see that continuing this year. From this point on, we certainly don’t have any plans for anything else.

"We were keen to get another ruckman in (and) we've been able to achieve that. I can’t guarantee nothing else will happen for us, but at this stage I would think it's (about) stability and going with our list as it is … and having pick 11 or 12 … and a couple of picks in the draft will be an important part of that strategy."
