Ta.

Geelong will open their season on a Thursday night in the second week of a split Round 1.

The Pies have 5 interstate trips next year and the Herald-Sun claims that's a lot  ::).

Lol at Dal Santo playing against his old club in Hobart. He obviously didn't read the fine print on his North Hobart Kangaroos contract.  :shh

5 interstate trips would be the norm, this year id expect to play metricon, perth, adelaide (crows), brisbane sydney or gws again.
Not playing filth and scum twice is actually good, their stench at the ground actuals repels my nostrils to tge point the hairs fall out of it,  :-X just like their teeth  :whistle

Im happy for whatever the draw is and if were good enough we'll be there again next year  :thumbsup

GC Suns won't be pushovers next year, in fact, they've never been a pushover for us.

We aren't playing Carlton in round 1

We are playing them in round 2: the first game at the MCG for 2014, will be late March

From Caro's article in today's Age....

The AFL has scheduled at least three Thursday night games in 2014 with Geelong making its season debut at Simonds Stadium against Adelaide under lights on a Thursday night in round one. Richmond hosts Carlton in the MCG's first home-and-away fixture in round two and Fremantle is expected to host Carlton at Subiaco more than halfway through the season on a Thursday night.

The Blues have again emerged as prime-time darlings of the AFL, with six Friday night games, two Thursday nights and its now customary Monday night fixture at Etihad Stadium against St Kilda. The Blues' final home-and-away game is against Essendon in the round-23 floating fixture that could prove a seventh Friday night.

And the club that pioneered that timeslot, North Melbourne, has also jumped into prime time contention with five Friday night games in 2014 - two more than last season.

The Cats had pushed for eight home games at Geelong but were awarded only seven - paying a price for hosting a qualifying final at Simonds with Etihad Stadium receiving two extra games next season as a result of the deal it struck with the AFL. At least five of those seven will be played under lights - four at night and one in twilight.

If true, that is the worst 1st round draw I have ever seen. Are the trying to set a record low attendance for round 1?
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

Dont' have much choice if the AFL are hellbent in starting the season 2nd week of March

None of the grounds that have cricket on them (MCG, SCG, Gabba, Adel Oval) are available so they have to schedule low drawing games
