So is there another draft to be had before 2014 ? I'm particularly interested in the draft where we choose a handful of young kids like which used to be done on national draft day instead of grabbing 23 and 24 yr olds...which used to be done in the psd  ! I noticed the other 17 clubs still use national draft day to draft kids.
Are we too clever for the other 17 clubs ?

I think I willbe agreeing with Claw when he starts to post on the drafts.

The lack of kids chosen is mind boggling

Anthony Miles. Great pick up.  :clapping :clapping :clapping Makes up for Banfield  :lol

I agree Tigs, I watched this kid play a fair bit and he has ability.  :thumbsup  Averaged 18 disposals and racked up 27 possies against Freo in 2012. Didn't get a whole lot of time on the field this year but the kid is a tough nut with a cool head. I have to admit that I was surprised that GWS discarded him but when you have the wealth of midfielders that they do its easy to burn players that don't exactly fit into your plans.

Could have got him with our 3rd pick though.  :banghead :lol

But seriously he can play. Ready-made and has upside unlike other guys we've taken in the rookie drafts of last few years. Banfield might even be ok injury free but that's a big IF at this stage.

Richmond

We say

For the second straight year, the Tigers have largely gone for mature-age talent. Shaun Hampson, Nathan Gordon and Sam Lloyd have already been added, along with young gun Ben Lennon, and the additions of rookies Todd Banfield (pick No.11), Anthony Miles (No.27) and Matt Thomas (No.42) – all from AFL clubs – will give them greater depth after the relative success of Ricky Petterd, Troy Chaplin, Aaron Edwards and Chris Knights (before his knee injury) last year. Petterd has been promoted and Orren Stephenson is back for another rookie season, with the extra injection of experience to complement the progression of the Tigers' recent draftees. – Jennifer Phelan

no surprises really. and no real complaints ive always said this is where you take mature players.
the biggest gripe i have is the lack of 18 yr olds taken.
no one will  be able to persuade me that at the very least picks 12 and 50 should have gone on kids.

on those rookied im not keen on banfield.  besides im asking again how many bloody sml/med forwards do we need.  hes been cut from brisbane for a reason i would have prefered he go back to a state league and develop and improve his game over the next yr or two and then have a crack at him if he ticks the boxes.
am not keen on matt thomas either he at least has come off a dominating season and like i said if you are going to take a risk its here you should take it.

finally ive said fairly regularly that the tall stocks are in strife i would have loved to see us rookie a ruckman and another kpd.  ah well not to be.
