Interesting that Ross Smith has now adopted Leppas role while still retaining his own and that M. Williams (the other one) has changed from forwardline coach to midfield spread and turnovers leaving Lade as our forward coach.

I would have suggested that our priorities next year would be our forward line and turnovers. I'm not certain that Lade has the expertise to the forward coach but I guess he'll be able to assist our 'forward rucks' - Vickery, Maric & Hampson - more from experience

Yep, that's the reason I was hoping we could get Ling and O'Loughlin.
Would feel a whole lot more enthused with Ling rather than Williams as the midfield spread coach and mickey as the forward coach rather than Lade.
The Sydney forwards always appealed to me as a very effective group of forwards who were all different (Hall, O'Keefe, O'Loughlin, Bolton even Davis) but all worked well as a group.

A few have been moved around. It appears Ross Smith has taken over Leppa's role as our defenders coach.


The not-choco Mark Williams has gone from forwards coach to midfield spread and turnovers coach.
Danny Daly has gone from midfield spread coach to midfield and stoppages coach.
Ross Smith has added the coach of our defenders to his existing defensive analyst role.
Brendon Lade has gone from midfield stoppage coach to the forwards coach.

Realistically we have not added to our senior coaches at all but rather reduced them. I worry about this whatever way the club tries to sell it to us. I hope the club switches its focus from our Reserve team coaches back to our AFL team next year.

no one is suggesting that a good player cant become a good coach, just that being a top player is not a prerequisite.

leigh mathews was a good coach because he had the attributes to coach, not because he was a gifted player..
