The disgraced footballer is facing fresh drugs charges in Western Australia after allegedly being caught with traces of a prohibited drug while driving near his Bicton home.
Jackson told Neil Mitchell when he hears Cousins' name come up in the news he fears the worst.
"When I saw that it was for a small amount of possession I nearly had a bit of relief," he said.
"You're just not sure when you hear news about Cousey these days about how he's going, it's generally not too good," he said.
"But I'm just happy that he's still kicking on and he's not behind bars, or worse, he's not dead.
"I guess that's a positive out of a negative."
