Positives v Gold Coast
« on: March 16, 2014, 01:27:16 PM »
Any positives from last night?

Nick Vlastuin off the half-back line.

Matthew McDonough.

Matthew Thomas, hard at it 100% of the time.

There's not too many, but I thought Thomas and McDonough had good nights, both looked impressive, it will be interesting to see how these two develop over the next couple of years.

I think they will go a long way and be a big part of winning a few finals, maybe even a granny in the next 5 years.

Midfield did pretty well , 10 more i50, our front half was just too stuffen useless to get on the end of a few . Gc only kicked 12 goals or so, that would tell me our defense wasn't exactly monstred. At times Hampson tap work was text book, must have won 5 straight clearances from the CBD , again forwards to stuffen useless to capitalise .
Thomas was outstanding 29 touches 7 tackles , can play a bit and should improve on that once he gets some fitness under his belt  :shh

It's only round 1 .... Can be like the twilight zone of football rounds. Hawks were 0-1 last year.

Look at the madness that happened in Sydney yesterday.

Richmond played like a steaming pile of horse manure all night yet found itself in a winning position in the last quarter.

Got the feeling when this season is done and dusted - a narrow loss at metricon won't look that bad.

Sticky Vicky can only improve on his 0/10 performance yesterday.

Still lots of tweaking required with the best 22.

It was a positive that you waited until the game ended before calling for the coach to get sacked #ghostofgraemerichmond
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Edwards was a positive? What game were you people watching?

Vlastuin & Thomas the main ones for me. Deledio putting in an all-too-rare four quarter performance - must almost be up to having to using both hands to count those on now.

Thought Astbury got better at reading the play as the game went on

Haven't been a fan but was pleasantly surprised last night

Thought Hampson tap work was good
