I think most of us would have preferred Miles being promoted ahead of Thomas because Miles had/has scoreboard impact as an inside mid. Unfortunately, Miles had an ordinary VFL preseason game just prior to the rookie promotion decision compared to Thomas having a good game in the seniors' preseason match. It cost him (and us) his promotion to the senior list  :-\.
