Fine send all those players back to the 2s,but replace them with who?..i cant see many putting their hand up.

Could they be any worse? Sometimes players lift when they play at a higher level, surrounded by better players. McIntosh & Lennon look up & see Cotchin & Martin  in front of them instead of Barlow & Bastinas.  Unproven kids > proven hacks IMO.

Don't be like that boys.
The last three years Coburg has gone to Frankston and lost.
This year we got a draw even though we were 6 goals up.
In other years we would have been overrun and lost.
We are on the right track. Yep I'm convinced.
This draw proves this given recent years results.
The 21st century dance club will be abuzz with ecstatic RFC blokes.
Woo hoo woo hoo woo hoo.

Why would we want to do this.
Newman going MIA in the seniors is just as valuable as Miles remaining as a rookie.
Grigg being as soft as melting ice cream is just as critical as watching Lennon in the ressies.
Titch fumbling bumbling and turning the footy over is just as much better than promoting another kid.

I cannot wait for the selection day when Vickery without setting the world on fire for the ressies gets his spot back at the expense of Lloyd, Gordon or McDonough provided he ever gets selected again.

Remember if you scrape into the 8 with a 10-12 record on the back of a soft Grigg type draw it doesn't matter if we get beat by 96 points like the Dons did in 2009. The main thing is we made finals.

Woo hoo woo hoo woo hoo.

VFL Tigers draw in ANZAC Day clash
richmondfc.com.au
April 25, 2014 7:45 PM

Anthony Miles starred in yet another impressive performance, but wasn’t enough to clinch a win for the VFL Tigers, drawing with Frankston in today’s ANZAC Day match.

Perfect football conditions at Frankston Oval saw Richmond start well, with Ryan Bathie open the Tigers’ scoring account and Aaron Edwards making a successful return from minor knee injury, with a snap goal early in the first term.

The Tigers piled on six goals to one in the first quarter, the side found ways to stop Frankston’s run through the centre of the ground, and the backline worked tirelessly.

After a good half of football, Richmond’s early dominance started to weaken as Frankston kicked four unanswered goals in the third term, before the Tigers managed to convert two for themselves from senior players Ty Vickery and Aaron Edwards.

The last quarter mirrored the third, as Frankston started fast, piling on goals with Richmond unable to halt their momentum, and the final result coming right down to the dying moments of the game.

Miles again was prolific around the contests, finishing with an equal game-high 30 disposals, 13 clearances and six marks. The 21-year-old’s ball-winning efforts, great vision and composure were key components to the Tigers’ impressive performance early, and helped the team stay in the game in the dying minutes.

The midfielder managed to duck and weave through traffic late in the fourth quarter to find Ryan Bathie on the lead in the Tigers’ forward-50, who marked and converted a much-needed goal. Miles was awarded the game’s ANZAC Day Medal, for the best-on-ground player for the away team.

Key forward Liam McBean was also dangerous early, leading hard, taking several grabs and working well at ground level.

McBean worked hard for his three goals, including a classy snap from the forward pocket and a crumbing effort 15m from goal in the second term.

Aaron Edwards moved well all game, unhindered by his recent injured knee injury, as he kicked two snap goals – one from the pocket, and picked up 26 disposals and seven marks. Edwards played both up forward and in a defensive role during the game.

Ty Vickery worked hard all game, playing all key positions at certain stages of the match, taking a big goal-saving mark on the goal line, deep in Frankston’s forward line in the second quarter. His first of three goals didn’t come until the third quarter, but it was much needed after Frankston kicked four unanswered goals in the third term.

His next two majors also came at crucial moments, during Frankston’s surging comeback in the fourth quarter.

Young Tiger Ben Lennon also displayed a solid performance, playing with intensity across half-back. Lennon racked up 18 disposals and seven marks, but showed his intent and defensive pressure with good spoiling efforts.

Defender Ben Darrou was outstanding in the backline, picking up 21 disposals and taking seven marks.

VFL listed players Nathan Batsanis, Ross Young and Luke Conca were also impressive during the game.

Batsanis finished with 30 disposals, seven marks and six tackles, while captain Ross Young led by example picking up 28 disposals and laying five tackles.

Conca was in-and-under contests all game, providing plenty of defensive pressure and finished with 17 touches.

Around the state leagues: Out-of-favour Tiger stars
Travis King
afl.com.au
April 25, 2014 6:45 PM

OUT-OF-FAVOUR Richmond forward Ty Vickery has booted three goals for the Tigers’ VFL team in a strong response to his continued hiatus from AFL ranks.

Vickery was among the best in the Tigers' 15.9 (99) to 14.15 (99) draw against Frankston on Anzac Day.

The 200cm big man split his time between attack and the ruck and finished the match with 3.2 – including two majors in a frantic final term as the Dolphins stormed home at Frankston Oval.

"He had a better second half, he competed really well," Richmond VFL coach Tim Clarke told AFL.com.au.

"His attitude and his approach to the game were outstanding. He competed OK in the ruck when he went in there and also when he went forward he was pretty dominant.

"I think he showed a bit of class with some of the marks he took and then with his impact late in the game.

"He ended up having around 16 to 18 touches, which isn't too bad from a big fella.

"He played his role, it's always hard in the VFL, when you're a key forward like him you still rely on good delivery and ball movement.

"We probably didn't look after him enough as a team, or all of our forwards."

Vickery has played the past two matches in the VFL after coming under fire from AFL coach Damien Hardwick for his lack of forward pressure.

"His forward pressure was OK in terms of him coming up the ground. He had a few tackles but I think they were in the middle of the ground when he was playing ruck," Clarke said.

"It's not something which was a stand-out in his game, but he was definitely pushing up the ground and doing everything he could."

Aaron Edwards impressed playing in midfield and as a high half-forward with 26 touches and two goals as he continues to work his way back from a knee injury.

Rookie-listed 22-year-old Anthony Miles had 30 touches and 13 clearances in a classy onball display, while last year's No.12 draft pick Ben Lennon was "very good" off half-back but made some skill errors.

If vickery stared then no words could describe how good the other half of the team
were!!
He had a purple patch in the last, until then he struggled.
At that level he should be dominating the whole game not a 5 minute pure patch where he kicks 2 goals in 5 minutes. He was no where to be seen in the last 5 minutes where he should have stood up.
With about 30 seconds to go there was a boundary throw in in there forward pocket, Stephenson tapped it down and we won the clearance. The ball was quickly booted up to the wing where we marked it. From here there was NO ONE forward to kick it to! The only player who was running through the middle of the ground to try and provide an option was Stephenson!!! That's right, the guy who only moments before palmed down the clearance. In the end it was kicked to Stephenson who ended up in a 3 on one ball spills siren goes the rest is history!!!

Why was Stephenson the only guy trying to get forward?? He must have ran past half the team to get to the position he was in. Not saying we were ever going to score from it but hell at least we would have had options to keep the ball moving forward.
It was a pathetic set up and just shows how little any of our senior players can think for themselves.

I think  young Miles helped keep us in the game in the dying minutes with his never ending clearances.
Actually his game today was one of the best I have seen from a tigers AFL player in 12 months

I 100% agree, but in saying that the poor bastard looked completely stuffed from about halfway through the 3rd but kept finding the energy to keep going.
He was the only player that looked like he wanted it all day, he actually looked like he wanted to be there FFS.
Unlike others who weren't seeming to give two hoots. I didn't even realise O'Hanlan was playing until the last quarter!

If Vickery starred, Miles played better than Garry Ablett Snr or Jnr ever have!
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.
