Watching the replay (well the first 20 odd minutes  ) he was on the bench and Doctor (wont say what I normally call him  ) had strapped his ring & little finger together and it looked like it also had some sort of splint as well

It would be unusual to damage finger ligaments that badly that you can't play. A finger fracture is more likely if he is out. It is standard medical procedure to splint an injured finger with an uninjured one.

Rising Richmond star Nick Vlastuin will miss the next 3-5 weeks with a broken finger.

The 20-year-old suffered the injury, which requires surgery, in last Saturday’s match against Melbourne.

It’s a similar prognosis for another of the Tigers’ up-and-coming players, Liam McBean, who also broke his finger on Saturday, during the VFL match against Box Hill.  He, too, faces about a month on the sidelines.
