Richmond VFL coach Tim Clarke's summary of how the AFL-listed players performed at VFL level in Saturday’s win against Essendon:
Anthony Miles
35 disposals, 5 clearances
He had a terrific game. He's really been working on his outside run and it’s really coming into his game. Had 25 uncontested possession so it’s fantastic for him to start showing he can spread from a contest.
Brad Helbig
26 disposals, 8 rebound 50s, 11 marks
He was very good at half-back. Defensively he’s got some things he needs to work on but he’s contributing well offensively for us at the moment.
Matt Arnot
25 disposals, 7 inside 50s
Had a quiet first half but really came through in the second. Was a big part in us going on to win the game. We can always expect his hardness around the ball. His best game for the year.
Ty Vickery
21 disposals, 13 marks
He was terrific. Didn’t hit the scoreboard, but he put the ball inside 50 well. Was a very dominant big man on the ground, just wasn’t rewarded with goals on the day.
Brett O’Hanlon
20 disposals, 8 inside 50s, 5 tackles
Very good early and had more attacking involvements, which we’ve been asking him to do. A capable game from him.
Ricky Petterd
20 disposals, 5 clearances
Had the first half off and came on at half time. Had a huge impact in the game and was a driving force in our second half.
Orren Stephenson
3 goals, 20 disposals, 30 hit outs
Fantastic on the day. Rucked very well, gave us first use of the ball. Had a big impact up forward. Outstanding contributor.
Aaron Edwards
4 goals, 7 marks
Ended up kicking 4.6. Really presents all day and wins one-on-one contests. His attitude is fantastic.
Cadeyn Williams
1 goal, 16 disposals
Played his best game for the year. Spent some time in the midfield and had a tagging role. Went inside, got plenty of the ball going forward and had several shots on goal.
Jake Batchelor
11 disposals
More of a defensive game this week. Didn’t get as much of the ball as we would’ve hoped but his opponent didn’t have an impact on the game. Good game by him.
Ben Darrou
9 disposals
Very good in his full back position for two quarters but then was injured. Spent time on the bench and forward but he’s in really good form at the moment.
Kamdyn McIntosh
9 disposals
He was very good across the wing and half back in the first half. Found the ball and contributed to our offensive ball movement but was injured and didn’t play after half time.
Todd Elton
1 goal, 5 disposals
Started back and was very good on their key forwards. He was also injured at half time so we had to move him forward but he ended up having three shots on goal. Big contribution.
Todd Banfield
4 disposals
He was very quiet when he played up forward. Couldn’t really get into the game. Went down back on to one of their key forwards and played a role for us but we expect more from him.
Sam Lloyd
1 goal, 4 disposals
He was quiet early, like many of our half forwards. Kicked a goal late but was sore after a knock early and struggled to contribute at the level we want him to.
