Brett Deledio is NO captain at all!

Jack Riewoldt should be vice-captain!

Have watched the Tiges since 1966 and one thing after last night that is clear is that Trent is not a captain
Who then ?
Bring this up for discussion
I don't like the bloke but think that Jack Riewoldt would be a good captain
Not scared to give team mates a spray
Demands and tries to lift the team
And understands the game
Anyone's thoughts ?

Maric for mine

He's just a natural leader of men.

He has a presence on the field

Appears to be the sort of leader that doesn't need to give sprays because the players would be in no doubt what he expects of them

Also reckon he wouldn't be afraid to front the coach with his concerns and ideas

We don't have that now

I sometimes think one of the problems with Coatch is he is too close to Dimma

I thought we could do a a Collingwood a few years back where we have the captaincy split 3 ways (atk/mid/def)

Which for me would be Riewoldt-Martin-Rance

People seriously want Jackson as captain? A plastic hard man and the dumbest footballer & biggest momentum killer in the side? I barely want him on the list. Make him captain and he'll be a walk up start until he's 32.

Cotchin, Maric & Riewoldt are the only players we have that are even close to captaincy material until Vlastuin's old enough.

Give Vlastuin the number 17 jumper and make him captain in 2015.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Ivan Maric should be Captain
Alex Rance and Nick Vlastuin should be Vice Captain
with Vlastuin the next in line after Maric retires.

Cotchin and Deledio should just play footy.

The captain is the right choice, unfortunately he is surrounded by primma donnas

I dont agree on this. I think we have reached the stage where we have to recruit our captain from outside. Like Carlton did with Judd. We need to get a big name player and make him captain either Fyfe or Dangerfield. If that doesnt happen then Id give it Ivan Maric even though the big man is imjured at least he has presence about him and looks like a leader.

Funny, I was thinking about this exact subject last night and besides Maric, this was pretty much the conclusion I came to.  Doesnt necessarily have to be a great player though, just someone that leads by example and demands that others follow his lead. Someone that will look an under performing teammate in the eye and tell them to pull their finger out rather than pat them on the back and give them kind words of encouragement.

It is painfully clear that we are bereft of natural leaders
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Can we have consensus now that it is as Dio said?
