Salary cap room? I thought when Dusty was potentially walking last year we didn't have any room. Do we or don't we?
If we do have room, why didn't we get Mummy instead of Hampson, GWS got better Mummy for a lesser pick but more salary? Our boom recruit is in the seconds!
Sick of us getting second raters because Hartley has his "list" of every player in the comp and what they're worth and we won't pay more. Well sometimes in any business you need to pay a bit overs to entice the right people and recruiting footballers is no different.

Don't care how "canny" he allegedly was in the Martin negotiations, if he's the halfwit responsible for some our other contract extensions then pee him off ASAP before he does any more damage.

O start to wonder how much this guy's negotiations have upset the apple cart.
There were a lot of murmurs from players when Cameron left.

Perhaps he should have been more hands on with some other contracts rather just worrying about  dealing with Dusty.

Think you'll find he leaves a lot of the deals to good old Blair

I do have to laugh how anyone thinks fyfe can help this fragile club

Boys the club is stuffed and unless you become ruthless nothing can help us. Look at the coaching staff, look at vickers dad, look at the fact that FJ still holds a job, look at dimmas and she wards contract  extensions. These are some of the reasons why we are a souless organisation. Fyfe won't help this believe me.

We are the village people of the afl. Good in the 60's now are good only deflecting or in our coaches words "the bedroom" or whatever spin come out of his mouth.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Look at Melbourne under Roos, look at pies cats hawks. They turn 4th rounders into stars. We will never achieve that if you reward mediocrity and don't set the bar high. Claw can post his 4 page essays all he likes about who we should recruit but it won't matter, as this is the RFC where culture and development by our coaches are the prime reasons for failure

We don't need no Peggy Sue with her legal American rubbish we need an Eddie who players play for or they will face him in the rooms. Strong ruthless administration from the top, not this pansy new age rubbish.

Don't kid yourselves that appointment sucks as does those hacks who occupy seats next to our coach

Cashed-up Tigers look to lure opposition players
Nick Bowen

RICHMOND is cashed up and will have "a big focus" on luring an opposition star to Punt Road over the coming months, Tigers football manager Dan Richardson says.

Richardson told SEN radio on Monday that Richmond had the salary cap room to be a major factor in this year's player exchange period.

Richardson was reluctant to name players the Tigers were interested in or the amount of free money they had to throw at them.

But the former player manager said that when he joined Richmond early last year part of his job description was to put the Tigers in a position where they could target opposition stars.

"Certainly a big responsibility of mine since coming to the club has been to ensure that we've got the salary cap space to be able to got to the free agency market, or go to the market (in general), and hopefully attract a player," Richardson said.

"I won't go into figures, but the bottom line is we've got room to recruit and we'll be active in that regard, whether it will be this year or whether it will be the end of next year, (which) was probably more the timing that we were planning for.

"You want [opposition players] to be able to choose Richmond as a club of destination, if in fact they actually want to leave where they're currently at.

"But certainly over the next few months that will be a big focus. Our list management strategy on the whole will be a real focus of myself and Blair Hartley, our list manager."

The biggest names left in this year's free agency market are Melbourne defender James Frawley and Fremantle midfielder David Mundy, with Carlton midfielder Bryce Gibbs understood to be close to re-signing with the Blues.

Of course, the Tigers could also try to trade for out-of-contract players such as Dockers star Nat Fyfe, Greater Western Sydney youngsters Jono O'Rourke, Kristian Jaksch and Lachie Plowman, or West Coast midfielder Andrew Gaff.

If they ultimately decide to hold off until next year, the Tigers will be able to target 2015 free agents such as Adelaide's Patrick Dangerfield, St Kilda's Jack Steven, Geelong's Tom Hawkins and West Coast's Scott Selwood.

Richardson said the Tigers' list management strategy would not change dramatically on the back of their disappointing 3-8 start to 2014.

"There's been a strong strategy in place," he said.

"We've certainly taken a step backwards so far this year, there's no denying that, but it certainly doesn't mean the strategy we've had in place gets thrown out the window."

Richardson also suggested some Richmond players would be playing for their futures over the rest of the season.

"We need to keep one eye on the future no doubt, and find out about some of the players on our list," he said.

"Whether they're young players or whether they're even more experienced players, (we need to) find out whether they really want to be part of something successful at Richmond going forward.

"We'll find out a lot about the group over the coming months."

so are we actually cashed up? Bc I distinctly recall hearing that we were maxed out or close to it last year.

Or did the club see another opportunity to exploit the silly gullible tiger fans ie the extra cap room provided by the AFL and spin it into a positive "we are cashed up" slogan to buy more hope for the dumbarse supporters who will latch onto any hope no matter how shallow.

The cynic (and realist) in me suggests the latter

Not sure what Dan's on about re the salary cap to be honest

Coming out of contract end of next year is Cotchin, who despite being offered 5 years only signed for 2 and Marton who's been our best player this season

So what is Dan suggesting? That we are going to throw huge dollars at F/agents and offer peanuts to our own?

Good O

The club is now desperate.
For all the spin now that the season is officially over the sugar coated truth comes out.
Well done Dan and RFC.

Profit is down, next years profit will be down, membership revenue will decrease. Time for marketing to do their job and entice the fans to dig deep again. It's their only hope.

Yes BJ everything is bright and rosy at Punt Rd.
63 point turnarounds in second halves are par for the course and blips in a 32 year cycle of failure. :help
