Daniel McConnell - would you trade for him at years end?
« on: July 20, 2005, 02:59:50 PM »
I heard a strong rumour that McConnell declined a 2 year contract with Westcoast and will heading home to Victoria at the end of this year.

Considering it had been quoted that he was once a mad tiger fan would you consider trading for him at seasons end?

He has had a very good year for East Perth is very mobile and 190 cm tall, turning 20 years old next June and averaging 20+ possessions a week.

He was pick 26  in the 2003 National AFL Draft, would you consider giving the Eagles our first pick for him? IF the talent at this years draft isnt as good as it sounds like

I've heard his name come up before with similar info to what you said.

Probably offer up our 2nd rounder (which you'd think would be around pick 26 anyway) and see if they bite.

No way should we give up our early picks especially on a kid who's only played 2 AFL games and the rest in the WAFL. Find a trade or swap a late pick.

------------------------------

Daniel McConnell

Guernsey Number: 25
Height:   190cm
Weight:   88kg
Recruited From:   Eastern Ranges
Debut:   2005
Date of Birth:   21 June 1986

ABOUT
The third pick in the 2003 National AFL Draft spent the 2004 season with East Perth in the WAFL, and will be better for it. At 190cm, the Victorian teenager provides a tall option at either end. A senior game is his next target.

C'mon be realistic, it'll take more then a late pick to nab him!

True Razor but we shouldn't be trading away our 1st and 2nd picks unless we intend to move up in the selection order. Trading a player appears more realistic than a draft pick(s) but unless he really really wants to come home as PRR says then I can't see the Eagles accepting any offer to their liking.

trade gaspar or tivendale, they are not part of th etiger bigger picture or future, keeping players like them in our team are actually not doing much for teh development of our younger kids. sarge comes in for gas this week, if he comes in and plays 3 gr8 consistant games, why should gas come in and regain his spot, same as morro, if he say gets it together and starts to show his potential why should he lose his spot. i say guys like gas, chaffey(even thought he has had a good yr), tiv, hilton(and im paris fan) and even chubba have to be let go to make way for the next generation of players

Trade Krakouer for him. We may have to pay wages to Krakouer as well but it could well prove cheap at the price.
