No Helbig, O'Hanlon or Griffiths

Saw all of them at the Saints game

O'Hanlon was emergency for the seniors, Helbig injured and Griffo - I have no idea, didn't speak to him.  ;D

Our playing list is in complete disarray, the lack of youngsters in the twos just shows the stupidity of the cheap moneyball rubbish they have implemented over the last 2 or 3 years. Complete utter rubbish.

VFL Wrap: Round 12 with Tim Clarke ...

VFL Tigers’ contested focus

“We started really slowly. They kicked six goals or seven goals to our one in the first quarter and really put us on the back foot,” Clarke told Roar Vision.

“We knew going into the game that they’d be hungry and it would be all about contested footy, that’s the way they’ve been playing most of the year.

“They just beat us inside and were able to get their game up and going, and we couldn’t catch them from there.”

The Tigers have struggled to win the contested ball in recent weeks, but Clarke is confident his side can improve in that area of its game.

Richmond VFL coach Tim Clarke's summary of how the AFL-listed players performed at VFL level in Saturday’s loss to Collingwood:

Orren Stephenson
2 goals, 14 disposals, 21 hit outs, 7 marks

Very good in the ruck. Most dominant big man on the ground, went forward and kicked goals and gave our midfielders first use. Continues to keep pushing and playing good football, hopefully senior selection isn’t too far away.

Matt Arnot
1 goal, 30 disposals, 6 clearances, 5 tackles

Was very good offensively. Probably the best link game he’s played for us this season, he brought others into the game. Still needs to improve on the defensive side of his game but we’ve been working on that.

Ben Lennon
1 goal, 23 disposals (10 contested)

Continued playing an inside midfield role. Contested possessions have been a real focus of his over the last few weeks. Contributed when we went forward as well. Really solid game from him.

Daniel Jackson
21 disposals, 8 clearances

Played a serviceable game inside – a grunt game. Got lots of inside ball and crashed packs, which is what we expect him to do. Just needs to convince senior selectors that his body is ready to go.

Shaun Hampson
8 disposals, 29 hit outs

Started the game well with a couple of big contests but couldn’t hold the ball. Got to contests but was well spoiled. Needs to be stronger with his hands.

Sam Lloyd
2 goals, 21 disposals

Had a solid game. We’ll look to play him deeper forward and change his role a bit this week but he’s been our best forward in recent weeks.

Matt McDonough

17 disposals, 4 inside 50s
Played a combination of roles – through the midfield early and then had to go to half back to give us stability there. We wanted more inside work from him and expect a four-quarter performance.

Ben Darrou
15 disposals, 4 spoils

Started poorly and was beaten early, but fought back into it and played his role for three quarters, which is what we expect.

Nathan Gordon
15 disposals

Played on a wing and worked back hard to help out defenders. He did some good things but we need him getting more ball and doing more.

Liam McBean
1 goal, 15 disposals

Much better this week, he bounced back. Played a lot higher up the ground to get him more involved in the game. Got on the end of a couple of kicks and started marking well. We’re hoping for a bigger and better performance this week.

Cadeyn Williams
1 goal, 14 disposals

Bit quieter this week. Played mostly on a wing and through the forward line but must win more footy than he did.

Todd Banfield
2 goals, 12 disposals

The most active game he’s played. Really close to playing a good game of footy. Hit the scoreboard but over the next couple of weeks he’s going to play a standout game because of his hunger and work rate.

Todd Elton
8 disposals

Had to play as a permanent key forward this week. He’s been battling to get his hands on the footy. Provided us with an option all day, tried hard, but couldn’t impact the game as a forward.

Think Big O deserves a go in the seniors. He isn't the way forward but either is Hampson so if they decide to bring in another ruckman/forward it must be the O. Unless of course they decide to give Beaner or Elton a go but that ain't happening.

21 disposals, 8 clearances

Is it fair to say he laid close to 0 tackles if none have been listed, if so to not question his defensive side but questions Arnotts is a farce

Clarke says QUOTE: They just beat us inside.  :wallywink No wonder with all your midfielders running on the outside wide not wanting to compete. You need sacking fool

If he can't mark the ball at VFL level he is no hope at AFL level.

Ridiculous hearing them say that Arnotts defensive game is somthing theyve been working on - the bloke got dropped earlier this season after laying 9 stuffing tackles.

The sagacious Dioc may be a few Toga's short of a party but in this instance he is fully correct, big fellas take longer to develop and in his 18th year Hampson should come good
