What the hell was Wallace thinking?
« on: July 23, 2005, 10:24:00 PM »
Starts the last quarter with all our dud players on the ground: Hilton, Krakouer, Moore, Tivendale.

Meanwhile the two players with the cleanest hands in the team Campbell and Foley, warm the bench for over half the quarter.

What results is ten minutes of constant turnovers and fumbles, we lose momentum and the game.

I think Moore started the last quarter on the bench..............

Hilton had a very poor last quarter, however it was wet and it isn't easy i know, but he just stuffed it up too many times.

Krakeour had a poo game (like Tambling, he can't play in the wet) and Tivendale had a good game.

Gawd knows why Foley started that last quarter on the bench?! It's not like he's 30+ years of age  ???. He was doing great guns in that 3rd quarter. Agree John - a Wallace error after he had a good night in the coach's box.

looking at both lists terry won the battle in th ecoaches box even though we lost the game.
the only mistake i believe terry made was he had hyde on the bench for much of the last quarter instead of our dud captain!!!

we should have won and if richo tiv and cogs(2 of them) kicked those easy goask we would have won. richos miss at the start of the last quarter cost us then the ball went across the ground where graham showed all the courage required and the ball spilled and they got an easy goal by fluke.

we were very undermanned and i believe snake is playing with an injury.

kane johsnon is the problem , joel bowden once again displayed why he should have been captain. johnson only has one thing in his resume, a false reputation.  cogs was dragged  when he cost us with bad skills , why wasnt sugar! when cogs came back on his poor disposal rate dropped but with sugar , he seems to be able to continually screw up  his disposal and make wrong choices, now for a captain thats NOT ON!.

I AM A BIG TIV CRITIC, BUT LAST NIGHT HE PLAYED  imo the best game for this yr. his only mistake was a missed sitter but he made up for it. i think he showed last night that he can play at this level if he just has a dip!

the positives last night were

-foley , his attack on the ball and winning the hard ball was great
- thursfield, again showed poise in frantic, nervous moments, he will be a player of the future
- hyde, went in hard again, showed no more psychol scarring and took players on!
- deledio , what can i say , just keeps on developing
- richo, is the godfather, the man!!!!!!
- graham, his courage and experience was awesome
- joel , our true captain
- tuck, our jack dyer medalist
- the result, even though we lost and we hate honorable losses, we didnt get thumped and fought it out

l  cogs was dragged  when he cost us with bad skills ,

Again this didn't show on the TV but I think you'll find that one of the reason Cogs was dragged was not for the skill error but the non second effort - didn't chase flat out - jogged.

I was there JohnF and I gotta say I couldn't believe it - Campbell, Foley and Krakouer (I'll expalin that one in a moment) got us back in the game in the third with their work in the centre. When we went back to our original centre square set-up from quarter 1 we got pummelled in the clearances as the Power blokes just came storming off the wings - easy clearance especailly to those Burgoynes :banghead

I know they are trying to manage Campbell thorugh games but gee 10 minuted of the bloke at the start of the 4th and the result would have been different I reckon

Now just on Krakouer - I know he had something like 6 possessions for the game but he had 11 tackles and when they threw him in the centre he shut the Power down by keeping the ball in tight - so for that he deserves kudos.

With Foley & Krakouer under the packs in tight and Cambpell brains in clearing the ball we got on top in the middle.

Also thought Stafford in the ruck worked well too - he was able to work Primus out and that helped our mid-field

I like the look of Foley.

I hear he has been travling well in the 2nds (didnt he get 50 touches or somethng stupid vs Collingwood 2's?) and was decent before the hammy vs Melbourne.

Looks like abit of a Kerr (WCE), Kirk (Syd), Bell (Freo) type for mine.

Yep a lazy 47 possies. Foley had something like 78 possessions in back to back games before getting the call up against Port.

Its not just that Foley has been massing possessions in the 2s, his use of the ball is amazing at times. I've seen the kid kick goals last year off two steps from the wing without looking up. He's a natural. Knows where to kick the footy. Great head on his shoulders. I think there were q's about his fitness over 4 quarters. But I'm convinced he is going to be a star for us.

Dont know what I'm going to do next year with Campbell retired. First Daffy, now Campbell. I've got no-one left to scream out for shirking tackles and kicking the footy quickly to the oppotisition to avoid getting hit.

And we stole him from the rookie list. Another reason we must rookie as many kids as possbile this season.
